About this property

The cabin is minutes from downtown Grand Lake and Rocky Mountain National Park. Situated above Shadow Mountain Lake, this property offers the ultimate retreat with scenic beauty and activities suited to all ages and abilities.

Our beautiful deck with ample seating is a delight from morning through evening. Moose, Elk and Hummingbirds frequent the property. The kids will love the creek and adventures to be had on along the boardwalk through the wetlands. There is a firepit right off the deck for toasting marshmallows or hanging out.

This 3 bedroom house with 2.5 baths is situated in a beautiful aspen grove with gardens, lake and mountain views, a private creek and a fire pit. The house is decorated in a mountain motif with hand-made, locally constructed aspen and pine furniture.

The dining room seats 7 and has amazing views of the mountains and the lake and our beautiful setting. There is additional seating for 3 at the kitchen bar. The family room has seating for 6, a wood stove, a TV with Dish programming, a DVD player and speaker with Bluetooth connectivity for your music device. The kitchen has top of the line stainless appliances and is stocked plenty of cookware and service for 8. Also stocked with spices and staples for cooking and food storage.

The master suite has awesome lake, mountain and aspen grove views and a private 5 piece bath. The second bedroom is a bunk room with 1 bunk bed and an additional mattress if needed to sleep 3. The third bedroom has a queen bed and for additional sleeping the living room has a memory foam queen sleeper sofa.

We have a carport for parking along with two entrances to the property from both county maintained roads! Plenty of parking for boats or snowmobiles!

Minutes from Rocky Mountain National Park and Downtown Grand Lake. Boating, kayaking and paddle boarding rentals nearby. Marinas are close by as are picnic grounds and abundant shopping and restaurants in nearby downtown Grand Lake. Grand Lake offers hiking trails, biking trails, a golf course, cross country ski track and wildlife viewing. Snowmobiling is permitted in the winter. Grandby Ranch ski area is right down the road, and about 40 minutes away is Winter Park ski area with Colorado caliber skiing.

Family Christmas Getaway

I booked this cabin for a family getaway with my wife, three sons, and daughter in law. The cabin was nice and clean when we arrived. They even had the property maintenance man snow blowing the driveway for us!The views from the cabin were spectacular. Sunrise over the mountains every morning. Just minutes from downtown Grand Lake with lots of shopping and dining opportunities. We would most certainly stay here again!

Perfect mountain getaway

The cabin was perfect for our family of 6. There was plenty of room for everyone, everything was clean and carefully stocked, and the location and views were amazing! My husband and I loved sitting on the deck at all times of day and night, and the kids were thrilled with the ping pong table and game closet. This is the perfect starting point for a day in RMNP, or just for hanging out in Grand Lake. We didn't have any issues during our stay, but the host was very responsive as we were preparing our visit. Everything in the cabin was laid out clearly and easy to access. We are already trying to figure out a way to come back next year!

Stocked with all the long term VRBO goodies!

We’ve been raving about this stay. Such a great house. A great location, great views, great tub, great dining table, great games, spices, condiments, utensils (even a straw cleaner! What other VRBO has one of those?). There was coffee (we brought our own), coffee liners, awesome cast iron cookware. The list goes on. One area that could improve… Some dust in the throw carpets. My nose knew it. But I got used to that and the rest was 6 stars. Thanks for a wonderful stay!

Family Fun

It was a beautiful home with amazing finishing touches, stocked with everything we needed. The beds were super comfortable. It was surrounded by so many fun things to do from a 30 minute trip to the hotsprings to sledding hills with restaurants and shopping in town to ice skating on the lake. There are also snowmobile rentals in the area and cross country skiing. The views from the home were amazing!!! Thank you so much for a wonderful stay.

Great cabin!

My family (4 adults and 2 kids) had a great stay at this house. It has all the "stuff" you need in a house and feels very homey, and is very comfortable. Great location near the lake, and there's some interesting walking areas right from the cabin door that my kids loved. Would stay again without hesitation. We also left an iPad at the house and the owner was so nice to mail it to us, she went above and beyond.

Perfect in Every Way

We make an annual trip to Colorado and this is the best property we have had. The house itself was so relaxing that we could have never home out and still had a great vacation. The location was perfect - nearby access to the lakes and trails we experienced. This is the first property we have used that we are hoping to rent yet again. Highly recommend!

Fantastic property, right next to RMNP, amazing views

Let me start off with the "annoyances" * NO ac - so it's a touch warm in the summer. Not horribly, and gets cold at night, so windows open helps here, and NO one there has AC. Not generally needed. * The toilets. They're built for kids OR the one in the master has... no door so the entire master bedroom is visible. They work, just... my wife and I all had to go downstairs unless we wanted to watch each other at bad moments * The mosquitos. You really are RIGHT next to a little creek so the mosquitos are bad - NOT the fault of the property, just... bring bug spray in the summer! * A few minor things with the house itself - e.g. the kitchen sink faucet needs replaced, no water pressure, some headaches on some of the pots/pans (use the cast iron - it's actually non stick), etc. OK now for the good, which is the VAST majority * You are 10 minutes or 15 minutes to the park. The west side has a ton of great trails and it's CLOSE to them all * You have a set of AMAZING views of the lake and mountains RIGHT outside all the windows * Plenty of sleeping room - the kids fought over who got bunkbeds in the one room, queen in the other. Small but very comfortable * The kitchen is well set up. As in nice dishes, the counters, cabinets all gorgeous, easy to cook a good meal * The dining room - I am trying RIGHT NOW to find a copy of that Xplorer map of RMNP - and the views when sitting at the table ARE AMAZING. The dining room can easily sit 10. ETC. Could go on and on!

This was our first trip to the mountains and this house did not disappoint! Plenty of room for the whole family indoors and out. Great view, comfortable beds, well stocked and great location. We will definitely be back!!

Perfect Location

What a magical place to stay! The location suited us perfectly - within minutes of Grand Lake and everything it has to offer, but slightly off the beaten track with gorgeous views in a peaceful spot. We were greeted by a moose/elk when we arrived and that set the tone for the visit. We thoroughly enjoyed the veranda and could have happily spent the day sitting in the sun with the view and we made good use of the fire ring in the evenings. Inside the beds were wonderfully comfortable and the whole house very well equipped. Grand Lake has great proximity to Rocky Mountain NP and we enjoyed that we didn't have far to travel to our accommodation after a long day in the park. Grand Lake itself has lots of lovely shops and restaurants and we spent time on the lake hiring kayaks one day and a boat another - stunning views from the water. Can't recommend the property highly enough - if we manage back to this part of the world, we would make a beeline for here. Thank you for sharing your beautiful home!

Awkward layout of the cabin

First of all, the pictures taken for the cabin were misleading, even though each bedroom seem to be accurate as shown but in reality. The layout of the cabin is very awkward. The main master bedroom upstairs is actually a loft with no walls for privacy at all, noises From downstair living room directly Carried upstairs. Bathroom on the main level is not attached to any bedroom space the twin bedroom seems to be remodeled from a walk in closet. Then one of bedroom downstairs doesn’t seem like a bedroom at all but rather an atrium attached to the basement door. Anyhow. I wouldn’t have picked this cabin knowing this layout for my purposes of the trip. It was just okay .

We enjoyed staying at your home, especially enjoyed sitting on the deck . The home was clean and comfortable. We had a little trouble with the stove instructions and the homeowner responded quickly. What we didn’t like is that we had to take the trash to the dump or pay a large fee and there. Is no no recycling .

Beautiful location and home

We loved the front porch. Surrounded by trees, a glimpse of the lake and on our final night we got treated to a huge mama moose and her baby. Absolutely lovely.
