Everything about our stay exceeded our expectations, location was great, hosts went above and beyond, cabin was plenty clean, property has a lot of amenities, I can’t wait to stay here again.
Great cabin, great location, very useful space, nice atmosphere, great host. There is an access to the trail systems about 200 yards from the driveway so it was very convenient.
Cozy clean cabin with excellent hostess ideally located.
Great home base to explore both the northern and southern Black Hills. Cabin, really a tiny house with all the necessary amenities. Sarah is a great hostess. This was our second extended stay.
The property was peaceful and beautiful. It was is a good location that was not too far from the thing we wanted to do. I would highly recommend this place for people visiting the Black Hills.

Thank you for the recommendation, Tommy! We are happy to hear you had a peaceful stay :) Hope you got a chance to see everything you came to see, and loved the Hills as much as we do!
The cabin was very clean and comfortable. They provided maps and info for the local area, movies and a tv in case we stayed inside, and contacted me halfway through our stay to ensure we had everything we needed. Great cabin and property!
This was a great small cabin experience in a beautiful and quiet setting. It is exactly as described in listing! It is the perfect location for visiting Mt. Rushmore. Would on end and would stay here again.

Thank you so much Sharon, we are happy to hear you enjoyed your stay! We welcome you back anytime :)
We absolutely loved our stay at Campfire Cabins. Our three year old had such a blast playing with the goats and chasing rabbits. The cabin was immaculate and we appreciated all the extra accommodations - snacks and fresh eggs! Would definitely stay here again and will be recommending to all of our friends!!
Stayed for a few days to explore the black hills on our way to Yellowstone and wished we booked longer! The cabin was amazing, extremely clean and the hospitality was phenomenal! Sarah honestly thought of everything! We also loved relaxing by the fire pit after a long day of hiking. The location was perfect for us being centrally located between Custer State Park and Deadwood. Sarah’s anticipation of what guests want and need is really extraordinary and I would stay here again in a heartbeat!
This is our second time here. As always, the owners make this stay amazing. The cabins are great and the kids love the loft area! This stay is centrally located and is close to a lot of fun things to do! I always tell my friends and family about this place and my kids always want to come back! We will be coming back!
The cabin, bedding, and towels were all nice and clean when we arrived. Sarah had thought of everything we could possibly need during our stay. We enjoyed fresh eggs from their chickens daily and our kids loved all of the bunnies on the property. If we visit the black hills in the future, we will definitely stay here again.
We came to the Hills for a quick weekend and loved our stay in this cute cabin. Fully stocked with needed essentials and included eggs from the chickens running wild. Our 9year old son enjoyed the chickens and kittens and chasing the bunnies! Would definitely stay again on any trip to Hills. Only thing we missed was a couch or comfy chair to sit on.
The cabin was centrally located, easy access to the local site seeing and trail riding. Very clean. Host was very accommodating and responsive. Only downside, no couch or chair to lounge in. I wouldnt say it would be a good place for smaller children due to the steep steps to get to the loft. We enjoyed our stay.
Such a great, central property to all of the Black Hills! Cabins are stocked with videos, games, and even some snacks and farm fresh eggs offered by Sarah and Al. They are super responsive and we loved having the animals wandering around. Campfire at night was a great opportunity to chat with other visitors and roast s’mores. Absolutely recommend!
The cabin was very welcoming and clean. We met Sarah the day we checked and was very accommodating. The fresh eggs and goodies in the basket was not expected and a pleasant surprise. We have stayed in many places around there and thought we would try staying here this time and have no regrets! Plan on coming back!

About the host
Hosted by Sarah Sutton
Campfire Cabins is proudly owned by Albert & Sarah Sutton. We grew up in the Black Hills. We were high school sweethearts and married after graduation. We then moved to Rapid City for work. 25 years and 6 children later we had the opportunity to purchase land and move back to the Black Hills. We soon realized how much we had missed the beauty and serenity of the local area.
We decided to turn our property into an organic hobby farm with a large greenhouse, chickens, ducks & turkeys, milking goats, and a handful of beef cows. We also decided to build cabins near our home to share with other families wanting to experience all the Black Hills have to offer. With 2 children still at home, we own and operate the cabins as family business. We look forward to getting to know you and be an added blessing to your vacation experience!
Why they chose this property
We believe family is important, and we want to give your family a memorable vacation! We know how stressful it can be on everyone stuck in a car all day. Once you get here there is plenty of room for your kiddos to run around, play ball, and have a water fight on the front lawn while you take a breather and unpack. There are toys, games, books, and movies for them to use. Grab a drink and have a seat on the front porch and just enjoy their energy and happiness :)
Our cabins have a full-sized kitchen for you to prepare and cook snacks & meals. There is a small dining table inside each cabin and picnic tables and chairs outside for you to sit around and enjoy the togetherness of a meal and conversation.
With 6 children of our own, we know how expensive travel can be! Vacations don't have to be costly or "flashy". Kids will remember the TIME and EXPERIENCES you give them. They will remember bottle feeding calves up in the Sutton's barn and playing with the baby rabbits. They will remember the days you spent hiking, boating, or ATVing with them outdoors. They will remember the other kids they met at the campfire and the smores! They will remember playing soccer, beanbags, or flashlight tag with those same new friends while you get a chance to relax around the campfire and visit with other families from around the country. Want to know which trails are the best? Ask the other grandparents & parents who have already hiked/rode them! What is the best scenic drive? Is the pontoon boat or ATV rental worth it? Where are the best restaurants? Everyone is willing to help you out & share their experiences.
We (Al & Sarah) live on the property and are always available to answer your questions. Feel free to call or message us anytime! We are down at the campfire most nights, so come down and introduce yourselves! Smores are on us!!
