About this property
Forest getaway in Fawnskin, the quiet side of Big Bear
Escape the city and experience being surrounded by tall pine trees and clear, starry nights. Close to the lake, this lovely cabin is located on the quiet north side of the lake in Fawnskin, away from the hectic town environment, yet a short drive to the ski slopes and other winter activities. In summer, the north side is the best location for access to bike paths, hiking trails, and boat & kayak launches.
It features two bedrooms plus a loft with a pull-out sofa. Free WIFI, huge front deck and plenty of parking space off the road. A fully fenced back yard.
Located in the San Bernardino National Forest, complete with forest critters, trash must be secured. Keep in mind you are in a forest setting with wild animals such as bears, coyotes, raccoons, etc. Never leave young children unattended, even in the fenced back yard.
This cabin is located in a quiet, family neighborhood. If you are seeking a party house, this is NOT for you. The community has strict good neighbor regulations. Quiet hours are 10 p.m. to 7 a.m. Excessive noise, amplified music, and/or unruly behavior has severe consequences, including a $500 fine for a first offense; $1,000 fine for a second offense. My policy is immediate eviction if law enforcement is contacted.
Parking for up to three vehicles on the circular driveway. Parking on the street is prohibited by the city to allow space for snow plows.
Sorry, no pets. Only certified service dogs excepted.
Renting a cabin in the mountains is not like renting a house in the city. Weather conditions can change dramatically in the mountains. While rare, if there are power outages, highway closures, severe weather warnings, or fire alerts I receive them on my phone. Therefore, I must have rapid, direct communication with my guests. As a condition of renting this property, I MUST have a valid working phone number for texts and/or voice contact. Any guests unwilling to provide a valid number, or communicate by text will not be accepted.

A wonderful cabin for a mountain getaway. Two stories, two bedrooms, two bathrooms, full kitchen and laundry. Wood fireplace and balcony. Surrounded by tall pine trees in a quiet neighborhood. Fawnskin is Big Bear for people who don’t like the crowds of Big Bear. I don’t think our weekend could’ve been any better.
We really enjoyed our stay in this cabin. It had everything to make us feel at home. There is plenty of room to accommodate a family. Very cozy and so beautiful outside.
The cabin was beautiful and very clean, and we had a great time renting it! The check in process was super easy, the drive to the city wasn’t long, and the cabin gave us so many memories! Would 100% do it again.

Thanks! So happy you selected Big Bear Getaway for your Valentine's Day.
property was fine. A bit smaller than expected. Balcony was very nice. good location. close to the lake. Owners were very responsive. check in process was very easy.
This cabin is nestled in a beautiful location away from all the busyness of the town. We had a very relaxing few days in this adorable cabin. The property owner communicates very efficiently. The check in and check out process was very easy.
The Sheldon’s Fawnskin cabin is a terrific little get away cabin. I was very happy with how clean the place was. The beds were very comfortable too. The neighbor is very quiet and peaceful. The view from their deck is exquisite. I stayed with my boyfriend the 1st night, then the following day our two good friends joined us. The cabin gets chilly at night but there is a fireplace and a great heater. There are tons of board games too.
I would highly recommend this cabin.

Thank you Sarah, we are so happy you enjoyed our getaway in the forest.
We really enjoyed our stay at this property, FL very cosy from the second we walked in. Using the fireplace was our highlight.
The only feedback I will have is that the paintings in the house were a little creepy, and the bathroom downstairs had no heating and was very cold. Also took a little while to figure out how to turn on the lights as a lot of the lights were unplugged.

After speaking with our guest, he described two paintings he found objectionable–Portraits of Sir Lancelot and Guinevere as teenagers, dressed in Old English clothing. So, not a fan of Camelot. As to lights being unplugged, perhaps it was done by the previous guest. Of course, that is not normally the case.
Beautiful mountain snow surroundings.
Very clean roomy cabin, prefect for my family of six, Near by everything, village, lake, slopes, trails
Great communication with a personal touch.
Can’t wait to return for the next trip
Loved this property and the communication from the owners. Couldn’t have been easier, all around. Thank you Sharon for helping my family have a very enjoyable Thanksgiving trip in Fawnskin!
Also we loved that this cabin was in Fawnskin, away from the city.
Property was well represented in the photos and description. We were so glad to have the laundry facilities and deck. Very easy to get to the lake and wonderful, quiet neighborhood.
We stayed here as a short weekend getaway in February. Easy check-in process and it was ready earlier than originally stated. The house was cozy but a little chilly at first. The house thermostat takes a few hours to warm the house and the bedrooms also have decent wall space heaters. The beds are comfy but the pillows are a little flatter than what we are used to using. We also stayed during COVID which led to reduced pillows and blankets in the house based on safety concerns. The living room was perfect for relaxing, watching TV, while enjoying a nice wood fire. The porch is awesome and perfect to let our 2-year-old run around on. The house overall is clean but it does have heavily used kitchen supplies like cookware and utensils. We would absolutely stay here again.
Cozy cabin on quiet side of the lake. The deck is big but could have been swept. It was comfortable overall but the heater in the bedroom didn’t work so bring a spare just in case. We ended up buying one.

When this renter notified us of the malfunctioning room heater, we immediately contacted our local handyman to make a repair. We also offered to reimburse the cost of the small space heater, which they declined, saying they wanted one for home anyway. Unfortunately, they left a mess and excess trash for our cleaning crew.
We had a wonderful stay! We came to hike and were pleased to be away from the hustle and bustle of Big Bear- although it was nice to have it within driving distance if we needed groceries (Vons is not too far away) or good pastries (Copper Q). The cottage is in a quiet, peaceful neighborhood and close to many hiking trails (most of the Big Bear 5). Check in was a breeze and communication with Sharon was great- she let us know that the place was ready early in case we wanted to check in earlier. The house is very homey and comfortable. Instructions for garbage and wifi, etc. are very clear. Wifi worked really well. There are two big screen tvs- but we didn't use either, so can't say much about them. The kitchen was well equipped- although we didn't do much cooking. There are lots of books and a history of the area. The deck is fantastic- we ate outside. There were lots of thick towels, the beds were comfortable and the place was very clean. We had a great stay and highly recommend it, if you want to hike and be in a quiet area close to the lake. Next time we need to breath mountain air we will be back!

Clean and perfect cabin!
We truly enjoyed our stay in big bear. The cabin was clean, has all you need for cooking and all the bath necessities. Well maintained and owner was quick to respond to questions and flexible with my need to leave a little late due to unforeseen snow. I would say the only thing I would have to change would be that there was no mention that the cabin didn’t have a dishwasher. Other than this it was perfect. Plenty of beds , bedding and games to play as well! Would definitely recommend this cabin to anyone visiting the are. Only 14 min or so to the Skii slopes too!

I adore the mountains and access to hiking trails. Most of the year I hang out on the beach in Mexico (see oceanfront rental, Baja Beach Getaway). But, Big Bear is unique in character, an environment that must be experienced to appreciate.

This cabin is located in Fawnskin, on the north side of Big Bear Lake. It is a quiet family neighborhood, which is what I was looking for in a forest getaway.
