This clean and comfortable, family-friendly house looks west across Lake Tashmoo and towards sunsets across the Vineyard Sound to the Elizabeth Islands. Absolutely lovely in summertime, the property offers special value to visitors attending Island weddings, family get-togethers and reunions of old friends in the ''shoulder months'' before and after peak season at seasonally lower costs. Available year-round.
COVID-19 Response - The house is thoroughly cleaned and sanitized before each guest arrives. Our cleaning service uses only cleaning equipment and supplies we provide to insure they don’t bring in equipment or cleaning materials from other locations. All contact surfaces, including tables, counter tops and door handles are carefully wiped down with sanitizing solution before you move in.
With a new house built in 1999 on land our grandfather bought 100 years ago, ''Macy Tashmoo Pond'' is a cherished family treasure. Built on one and a half acres of prime lakefront just off Herring Creek Road, the house is only a mile from downtown Vineyard Haven. Featuring new appliances, high-speed cable service, a large parking lot and two-car garage, you will have all the convenience of home in a uniquely beautiful and private location. Enjoy convenient access to everything the Martha's Vineyard has to offer, or just relax and 'get away from it all.'
Relax in the sunshine on the main deck or in the shade of the covered upstairs balcony while you take in the spectacular views and feel the cool breeze coming off the lake. Walk about 50 yards from the house for kayaking, sailing, clamming or a pleasant swim in the lake. Or walk .3 miles to Wilfrid's Pond Beach or .7 miles to Lake Tashmoo Town Beach. Mink Meadows Golf Club is also within walking distance (.9 mile).
The calm waters of 270-acre Lake Tashmoo are great for kayaking, canoeing and paddle boarding. If you don't have your own, Wind's Up in Vineyard Haven rents a variety of watercraft with convenient and affordable delivery and pickup to and from the house.
We installed brand-new energy-efficient kitchen appliances (range, refrigerator and dishwasher) and a new washer and dryer in 2019. A second refrigerator on the lower level provides extra storage for food and beverages. The house is fully equipped with all the cookware, tableware and silverware you will need. Cushioned window seats, books, toys and games are available to enhance your stay. This is our home and we look forward to sharing it with you and your family.
Amenities include premium cable TV with Netflix, high-speed internet and WiFi and telephone service with unlimited domestic calling. There are flat-screen televisions in the primary bedroom and the living room. The house is equipped with ample USB charging ports for your personal devices.
Sleeping accommodations include a king bed in the primary bedroom and queen beds in the other two bedrooms. All linens and towels are provided. Ocean breezes keep the temperature mild, but fans and central heat are available if needed.
There is a full house back-up power generator in the event of a power outage. Two Weber barbecue grills are available for your use.
Grab bars on the shower and bathtub, a first floor bedroom and a ramp to the entrance make the house accessible.

This was our 2nd stay and we absolutely love it. The view is so relaxing and peaceful The house is very clean and well-stocked. The owners have thought of everything to make the stay comfortable. Thank you to the Macys for sharing their home.
Our family came to stay for my mothers 80th birthday. This home was the perfect place to stay, as it was in such a beautiful location. The attention to details by the owners who literally had everything we needed to make our stay comfortable. The upstairs bedrooms have an ocean view, and the downstairs bedroom was off the kitchen and had a shared down stairs bathroom. It was very comfortable for my mother. For children the home has a great down stairs space for kids to be kids. This home is a short drive to town. You can see the most beautiful sunsets from the deck or you can take a short walk to the beach. If you rent this home your family will not be disappointed.

Best family vacation spot
Three generations all under one roof, with plenty of space and room at the dinning room table for all of us. The kids loved playing on the beach and water right in the back yard and the very short walk to the bigger beach was perfect! We had a blast and hope to come back next year!

We are so glad your group had an enjoyable stay and look forward to your next visit. We could not have asked for more appreciative or thoughtful guests.

A fabulous vacation home on Lake Tashmoo with glorious sunset views enjoyed by all! The host, Tim, was extremely attentive and communicative. The house was immaculate, cozy and had many thoughtful amenities. Kayaking on the lake was a very easy process, and we had delightful experiences communing with nature. One of the loveliest cottages we have ever rented, and we will definitely return!
This is a very comfortable house in a lovely location, right on Tashmoo Pond. The home, which has everything one could need, is very user-friendly, with many thoughtful and creative touches. The owners are responsive and easy to communicate with. We would stay here again.
Loved this place. Great size, multiple puzzles, games, stocked kitchen and garage. A short trip in Vineyard Haven, Oak Bluffs and Edgartown. The place was perfect there on the water although a short walk to Tashmoo Beach is recommended just be ready for a narrow winding dirt road back to the property.
Spacious & Comfortable House with a Magnificent View
The house was lovely and it was a perfect place for a large family or group of friends. We loved sitting on both the upper and lower deck with cocktails or coffee and enjoying the view. Very quiet and off the beaten path which needed an SUV or similar type of vehicle to access the house from the main road.
Nothing fancy. It is the old Martha's Vineyard not the new one. We love the old one so this was perfect.

Great location on Lake Tashmoo. Beautiful sunsets
The overall experience was good. This was the 1st time the family opened the home to renters. The top and middle level areas were great. The basement had moisture due to the humidity, but we made the best of it. The owners were very receptive and helpful.

Our guests promptly and courteously informed us of the basement moisture problem, which arose following a heavy downpour. We learned after they left that the problem was compounded by a defective dehumidifier. We have replaced it with a new one and don't expect the problem to recur.
We would welcome this group back anytime!

This house on Lake Tashmoo was amazing! It has beautiful views of the lake and ocean. It is walking distance to the ocean at Lake Tashmoo Town Beach. It is peaceful and secluded, but Vineyard Haven and Oak Bluffs are just a short drive for eating out and other activities. The well-equipped kitchen also made staying home for dinner a pleasure.
Tim communicated well and this made the logistics of our stay really easy.
A perfect place to experience MV!
We took a much needed, "post-pandemic" girls trip to Martha's Vineyard and we could not have asked for a more idyllic home. The views from all of the decks are stunning, the neighborhood is serene, and the house has every amenity you could possibly want or need. Tim is an incredibly thoughtful and generous host, there was even a gift basket waiting for us upon arrival. Seriously, stop deliberating and say yes to this house! It is indeed a little piece of heaven.
This home is all about the location! My family and I stayed here for a wedding, and we were able to bike from the ferry to the house in under 10 minutes and to Oak Bluffs in just over 25 - beautiful and scenic all the way. While we were at the home, we cooked breakfasts in the well-equipped kitchen and enjoyed coffee on the deck. We loved making cocktails to watch the unbelievable sunsets over Lake Tashmoo and the ocean - without another sound other than those from nature. So peaceful! The house itself is basic, but comfortable, especially the beds. We also loved making a fire in the wood fire place - the home was even stocked with wood for us! A very memorable stay!
We all had an amazing time at the Macy house on Lake Tashmoo. The location is fantastic—close enough to all the down island towns to make going out easy, but with a peaceful and secluded feel that tempts you to stay in. We enjoyed beautiful sunsets from our deck, and swimming and hanging out at the private beach on Tashmoo. The house was clean, comfortable and stocked with everything we needed—including beach towels, great beach chairs, and all kitchen gadgets. Games and TV service, WiFi, etc., were very much appreciated. We loved the outdoor shower. We could tell the house was much loved and are grateful for the warm welcome we received. Thank you, Tim and Bobbie, for being such gracious and attentive hosts—we only regret we weren’t able to stay longer!
We planned a sibling reunion with spouses to celebrate our 65th, 70th and 75th birthdays together on the Vineyard. Tim was an incredible host, in correspondence with us before and during our stay to ensure that we had everything we needed and were well taken care of. The house is well stocked and we were greeted with a welcome basket of goodies to get our celebrating off to a good start. We had only one problem with an ornery oven that did not want to warm up. Tim had an electrician there within the day. The charcoal grill also saved the day as an easy backup. Although we were excited to explore the island, we spent most of our time on the deck, taking in the extraordinary view and watching one of the most magnificent sunsets we have ever seen. As promised, there is easy access to a swimming beach at the pond below the house, and an ocean beach an easy walk down the road. A very special spot!
We have been vacationing on MV for years so we are very familiar with many parts of the island. We love the area around Lake Tashmoo and this property was wonderfully situated with a private path to a wonderful beach. Warm shallow water never more than 5ft at high tide. Our 7 and 4 yo grand daughters loved it. Swimming and kayaking from the beach was wonderful. The property was clean and the property owner was very easy to communicate with. The sunsets were spectacular and we had clear skies enough to see the Milky Way one night and vivid lightning storms across the sound on another night. We cannot say enough about how well this property met our needs and exceeded our expectations.
This property was everything that we had hoped for! It was a wonderful oasis for a girls' weekend away! We loved that the house truly felt like a home. The view of the lake and the property was so beautiful. We enjoyed coffee on the deck in the mornings and evenings looking at the stars. It's remote, but perfectly situated! Thank you Tim for being such a wonderful host from afar! I hope to go back again in the future!
Great place to stay. Secluded in the woods. Ocean views and amazing sunsets with no light pollution for stargazing

About the host
Hosted by The Macy Family
We are are third-generation owners of this property purchased by our grandfather 100 years ago. It was passed along to us by our parents in 2016. It's a cherished family treasure and we are happy to share it with you.
Why they chose this property
A direct descendant of Thomas Macy, who first settled on Nantucket Island around 1640, our grandfather Paul Macy built a rustic summer cottage on this property a hundred years ago. Our parents Eliot "Bud" Macy and his wife Susie replaced it with a new year-round home in 1999 and lived there for the remainder of their lives. We have been coming to Martha's Vineyard for more than sixty years and have passed our love for the Island along to our children and grandchildren. The Macy family is delighted to share this family treasure with you and hope you will enjoyit as much as we do.
What makes this property unique
Gorgeous views of the sunset across the lake from the kitchen, dining room and upstairs bedrooms., with a private beach right on the property. Private & quiet, but just a short drive from Island attractions. Within walking distance of Lake Tashmoo Town Beach, Wilfrid's Pond Beach and Mink Meadow golf club.
