About this property
Cute cottage in the Mountains, near NC500 Woodlands Rest
Take it easy at this unique and tranquil getaway. Beautiful views of Ben Wyvis, both summer and in the snow. Enjoy the River Black Water its raging authority in the winter, the peaceful trickle in the summer where you can sit in the clear, sparkling lazy water when hot. The clear blue skies, the perfect place to watch the varied wildlife, the large array of different birds. Close to the NC500, central so perfect to break the 500 mile trip round this world renown road.
We are very remote and away from people, shops etc but sit close to the A835 a road always accessible
The space
The main bedroom has a double bed with en-suite shower room.
A second small bedroom has a toilet and wash basin off.
There is additional sleeping in the lounge with an ikea bed and trundle that make up to a double bed.
Heating is special electric radiators in all rooms. Hot water is via hot water cylinder.
The lounge has a three seater and two seater sofa. Coffee table, sideboard and TV. There is free fast internet. There are windows to the front and to the rear garden.
The kitchen/diner has a fully equipped kitchen with hob and oven, microwave, toaster, kettle, coffee percolator, dishwasher. The washing machine is sited off the bathroom from the single bedroom.
The dining room has a dining table and chairs and looks out over the garden.
There is an outside garden area with a picnic bench. There are views to Ben Wyvis. Guests can go over the rears ground of the Inn next door to the river where free fishing is available, guests can make use of these garden areas.
Guest access
Guests have access to the whole property and garden, it is fully self-containers with its own front door. There is free off-road parking right outside the cottage.
We are very close to a wide variety of attractions, if very high scary roads are your thing then Applecross is not to be missed, there is the Gorge just down the road, waterfalls and rivers, the waterfall at Rogie Falls was made famous by Robert Lewis Stevenson who draw the waterfall and included it in his book ‘kidnapped’ the rock is still there. The visitor centre at Culloden and the moors where the fighting took place have a very historical sad feel, and of course the NC500 takes you round one of, if not the most beautiful route in Europe
There is a video showing where we are
It is self check-in with a key box, the code of which is sent to you. Amanda is on-site though and will help you with any queries you may have

This cottage was the home of our parents for twenty years so a much beloved home. It is in a beautiful setting and we hope you enjoy being here for a short time like our parents who loved being there for a great number of years
Why they chose this property
We wanted to get away into the rural highlands to experience the clean air, the tranquility and the wild life, to be able to allow the river to trickle over our toes, to see really blue skies, to see stars like we had never seen before
