Charming historic cottage in the heart of Thurlestone
Imagine having so many amenities on your doorstep - the beach, cliff walks, the local pub, the golf course and the tennis courts are all within easy walking distance of our house. The house was built hundreds of years ago as shown by the original features but has recently undergone extensive refurbishment to bring it up to modern day standards. There are two different places to eat outside or just sit back and enjoy the seclusion of the sun drenched back courtyard with its own palm tree. Inside there are different areas where you can relax and at the end of the day, the children will enjoy exploring an extensive library of films (DVDs) located in the studio You can take in the sea air in Thurlestone or go further afield to see all the great things that the South Hams has to offer. Whatever your choose, Thatchways provides a very comfortable and welcoming home for your holiday.

The host requires you to complete the following before checking out:
Load and start the dishwasher
Strip any used beds and gather used towels
Remove personal items, remove leftover food and drinks and take out the rubbish
Turn off the lights and lock the doors
Failure to complete these may result in a negative review from the host.
No BBQs I am afraid as Thatchways is a thatched property and insurance will not allow it.

The house is so lovely and decorated clearly with care. More like staying in someone’s beautiful home. We also found the position very good as easy to walk to beach etc but also pub and village shop! We will be back.
The house was a perfect venue for a family gathering (6 adults, one child and one dog). It had a lovely relaxed feel and was ideally located for the village and all the beautiful beaches along the coast. The kitchen had everything you could possibly need and the conservatory was a light and spacious place for the whole family to sit together. We'd love to come back one day!
Excellent accomodation, very comfortable, excellent towels and toiletries. The kitchen was very well equiped.Lounge was very comfortable and we enjoyed the use of the smart TV with netflix etc. When an issue arose with the hot water it was fixed immediately. We look forward to hopefully returning.

About the host
Hosted by Philippa Armitage
We love the wonderful sea air in Thurlestone and thoroughly enjoy spending time walking our dogs, playing golf and entertaining our friends who always want to come to this wonderful place.
Why they chose this property
The area has so much to offer for all ages. Small children can enjoy any of three beaches which are close by, bigger children enjoy tennis and golf at the local club while the adults can appreciate a moment’s peace relaxing with a pre dinner drink at the Village Inn. The famous Thurlestone Hotel which is minutes away also offers wonderful cream teas, fine dining and a wonderful Spa facility. There are many excellent restaurants nearby including the Beachhouse which offers delicious food (remember to book well ahead…it is very popular!).
What makes this property unique
It is uniquely well positioned for all the facilities Thurlestone has to offer. Once you have parked your car, you can walk to everything enjoying the slower paced world of the South Hams. Thatchways history is also outstanding…it is said that Thomas Hardy’s sister lived in the house.
