Indian Ocean Safari. snorkel & swim with wild dolphins. With visit to crystal rock If you want to have the experience of swimming among the dolphins and want to get back for kite surfing this trip is a few hours 06am - 09.30am.

Half day Catamaran cruises from Black River to Crystal Rock. Swim around the famous rock in clear blue waters. Experience local & tasteful lunch on board, while sipping your favorite cocktail.

For a more ecological approach, Lokal Adventure offers an early morning kayak tour from Tamarin Bay’s River to the dolphins. As dolphins are wild creatures, some mornings they might not show up.

Amaury has been fishing around the west coast for the last 20 years and proposes a range of fishing techniques from dropshot, casting for Giant Trevally, to trolling for marlins, dorados & yellowfin tunas.

Louka, the owner, is a professional kite surfer for Redbull and Naish, therefore he knows all Kite / Wing foil & Windsurfing schools and gear renting/purchasing options around. Whether you want to learn or are an advanced rider, Le Morne is renowned for being one of the best destinations worldwide to perfect your kitesurfing abilities. All our recommended instructors and coaches are IKO certified.

Surfing is also rooted in the area and we are connected to many teachers or surf coaches from Tamarin Bay to the South.
For advanced surfers, we still recommend a coach as it is the best way to avoid any local confrontation.
You can also book a boat ride that will take you to uncrowded spots.

If you are looking to buy or rent one, Down South surf shop is 2 minutes away down the road.
There you will meet our friend David, the shop owner, a real waterman, who knows exactly which board would match your level/style to the waves and spots that you are planning to ride. His brother Daniel is the only Mauritian shaper, and owner of Santosha Surfboards & Apparel.

Scuba divers, welcome to paradise! There are many PADI certified diving clubs around the west. For any excursions, immerse in a world full of colors and breathtaking seascapes.

Hikers, you are in safe boots with Yannature. They propose a range of guided climbs around the South, from Mauritius’ highest summit to the mandatory Unesco World Heritage Le Morne Brabant mountain.

You can also book an exclusive guided cycling trip with Dunienzil, a globe-trotting Mauritian family that has unlimited access to some public restricted areas.
Walk with Lions in Mauritius? Yes you can! At Casela Nature Park, which is about 30 mins drive from Loukaz, you will find yourself immersed in an African game reserve. There you will meet the lions, cheetahs, giraffes and elands amongst many others.

Mauritius has only 2% of its primary forest left, with a major part hiding in private hunting reserves. Nevertheless, Les Gorges National Park is public & free of access. Put on your shoes and choose the most suitable hike for your level or ambition of the day. We strongly recommend you to explore that area for 2 days. The endemic fauna & flora changes drastically from sea level to the higher plates of Plaine Champagne!


If ever you feel tired, or do not have enough time to do it all, Ebony Forest would be a great alternative. This project inherited from a nature lover’s enthusiasm to recreate a primary forest in the heart of Chamarel.


In Chamarel you will also have plenty of restaurants that serve typical creole food.
Chez Pierre Paul, Palais de Barbizon, Le Chamarel Restaurants are a few good amongst them.


One of our favorite activities in the South West is to jump in the car on a sunny day and head south. Maconde’s coastal road and viewpoint were ranked amongst the 10 most scenic routes worldwide in 2021. You won’t be disappointed as the road keeps on delivering surprises. Coconut alleys, public beaches, river mouths, restaurants, old sugar mills and less traffic!
