About this property
Waterfront Rivah Home with EV Charger and Gourmet Kitchen
The house is located on a quiet creek off of the Great Wicomico River, just a few miles from the Chesapeake Bay.
This home is located on a private point of land with water on three sides. There are water views from all rooms in the home. The property includes 16 acres surrounded by rural farmland, water and woods. Wildlife include deer, ducks, ospreys, and bald eagles. Rivah Home is perfect for a quiet family retreat, romantic weekend, reunion or nature lovers adventure.
Many guests bring their own boat - plenty of room both at dock, and to store trailer.
The Rivah Home has also become a destination for kayaking and paddle boarding.
Three kayaks are provided. These are recreational kayaks. If you would like to bring a sea kayak, etc. there is plenty of space to park between outings.
Explore creeks with lots of wildlife including Barretts Creek, Horn Harbor Creek, and Ball Creek.
More experienced kayakers may want to paddle to Reedville or Dameron Marsh Natural Area Preserve. Both are about seven miles away from the Rivah Home.
Reedville is a unique town, with numerous restaurants and a Fishermen’s Museum. The town is featured in Sea Kayaking Virginia: A Paddler's Guide to Day Trips [in our kayaking library]
The 316-acre Dameron Marsh Natural Area Preserve is one in a series of protected lands that line the western and eastern shore of the Chesapeake Bay in Virginia. This preserve contains one of the most significant wetlands on the Chesapeake Bay for marsh-bird communities
.
PFDs [life jackets], paddles, etc. are provided.
Kayak Kits are also provided, which include:
Bottled water [unlimited, and more in basement if needed].
First aid kit
Whistle
Bug spray
Suntan lotion
Waterproof flashlight
Waterproof dry bag
Paddle float [used with paddle to make kayak into an out-rigger and allows easy entry back into kayak].
There is also a library of kayak and boating books at the Rivah Home. These include three Basic Kayaking books, two Sea Kayaking books, one Sea Kayak Rescue book, one Kayak Navigation book and Sea Kayaking Virginia: A Paddler's Guide to Day Trips.
Kayak fishing has become very popular, especially bass fishing [rockfish] in the Northern Neck and Chesapeake Bay areas. Our kayaking book collection includes four books on kayak fishing. General kayak fishing information is covered in "The Complete Kayak Fisherman", "Sportsman’s Best: Kayak Fishing Book", and "Kayak Fishing: The Ultimate Guide 2nd Edition".
Owners are available by text or phone 24/7. Emergency (911) services in the area include Rappahannock General Hospital (Bon Secours affiliate) in Kilmarnock. A Walgreens and CVS Pharmacy.
