Fern House is a wonderful Grade II cottage, which has been lovingly furnished and styled to provide a comfortable and stylish holiday home for up to four guests. On entering the property there is a bright hallway which leads through to a beautiful sitting room with its large brick fireplace and wood burning stove, high ceilings and shuttered bay window. The well stocked games cupboard will provide plenty of amusement for cosy evenings by the fire. Gorgeous pink sofas invite you to take a seat and relax, and enjoy the special atmosphere of this unique cottage, which cleverly combines its character features with well chosen furnishings and contemporary touches.
Next to the sitting room you will find the attractive dining room, decorated with Swedish Borastapeter wallpaper, and the perfect setting for enjoying meals together; it has a well-stocked bookcase inviting you to start that new book. A door from the dining room leads out to the cobbled courtyard style garden with its sheltered terrace and pretty planting. The impressive kitchen is very well-equipped with all you will need to prepare a delicious meal, and the Ercol table with charming vintage chairs provides the perfect spot for sitting with your morning coffee. A cloakroom completes the ground floor accommodation, and stairs from the sitting room lead up to a bright landing, with another generous cupboard of books, and the two gorgeous bedrooms.
Both bedrooms are generous in size and beautifully furnished with selected antique pieces blended with contemporary comforts, including sumptuous V-Spring mattresses. Each bedroom has its own luxury en-suite with marble tiling and high quality fixtures. The light-filled Bedroom one, previously an artist's studio, has its own sitting area with doors that lead out directly to the garden terrace. Bedroom Two is warm and inviting with an antique French bed and a bay window affording views of the pretty village Church. A door off the landing leads up a small 'ladder like' staircase to a second floor room that is perfect for spending some time quietly with a book or in meditation or yoga.
Fern House is well situated on the High Street in this timeless and popular village, and the highly acclaimed Acorn Inn is just a few steps away, along with a village shop and bakery. The village is surrounded by great walks and bridleways, and is ideally placed for exploring the stunning landscape of West Dorset. The towns of Dorchester, Beaminster and Bridport are all just a short and pleasant drive away, and the stunning Jurassic Coast can easily be accessed within half an hour from your holiday home.
Whether you are looking for a couples break, or a family holiday packed full of adventures, a stay at Fern House will ensure that you have a comfortable and special holiday where great memories are made.
