Exclusive location, directly within the Molentargius-Saline Regional Natural Park, natural habitat of a large colony of pink flamingos, 2 steps from the sea and the city. The Oasi del Fenicottero Rosa was an old peasant house; the only renovation dates back to 1998 before the park where it is located became a Nature Reserve.
Set in the beautiful Sardinian Mediterranean scrub, the Villa maintains its conservative state to date, limiting as much as possible the environmental impact, in compliance with the regulations in force of the Park Authority, for the protection of local flora and fauna. Surrounded by soils with endemic plants: myrtle, lentischio, strawberry tree, carob, rosemary and other endangered species.
The Pink Flamingo Oasis consists of: A living room with fireplace, circular sofa and open-space kitchen, equipped with fridge-freezer, electric oven, microwave, dishwasher, espresso machine, kettle, toaster bread, gas island with 5 burners; a double bedroom with private bathroom with shower, sink and bidet; 1 bedroom with 3 beds; a second bathroom with bathtub, sink and bidet; a tavern with double sofa bed and desk reception, laundry room with washing machine and dryer; play area for children, with access to the garden and the outdoor play area. Fast WIFI, air conditioning with hot/cold split. At guests' disposal, gas barbecue, deck chairs, umbrellas and bicycles. Inside the Natural Park of Molentargius, there are possible guided excursions on horseback, on foot, by bicycle; Segway sightseeing tours for flamingo observation, tours in apelisetta tuk tuk, or by electric minibus. The villa the Pink Flamingo is only a 10-minute drive from the historic center of Cagliari, the marina, the railway station. Cagliari Elmas Airport is 13 km away.
From the Oasis of the Pink Flamingo you can reach through a beautiful walk or bike ride, along a fresh water channel, the renowned city beach, the "Poetto" with its kilometers of white beach, with crystal clear waters, a waterfront loved by sportsmen, swimming enthusiasts, jogging, rollerblader, with kiosks and restaurants on the sand. Kite, surf, sup and canoe schools; dinghy and sailboat trips; Trekking to the Devil's Saddle.
The Park includes freshwater basins (Bellarosa Minore and Perdalonga), salt water (Bellarosa Maggiore or Molentargius and coastal pools including the Quartu pond) and a plain of sandy origin (Is Arenas). The presence of areas with different salinity favours a rich variety of plant and animal species. The Molentargius ecosystem is one of the most important sites in Europe for the resting, wintering and nesting of numerous species of water birds, such as the Pink Flamingo, the Knight of Italy and the Red Heron. In addition, the flora is varied and heterogeneous: there are endemic species and elements of the flora inscribed in the "Red List" of endangered plants.
The wetland of the Natural Park of Molentargius, since the discontinuation of the salt extraction activity, which took place in 1985, still preserves the traces of its past witnessed by the fascinating buildings of the early '900 of the City of Salt and ancient industrial machinery. The Park has gone through a path of redevelopment and transformation in what is now one of the richest sites of bird species in the whole of Sardinia and the Pond of Molentargius has been in recent years the most important site in the Mediterranean basin.
