What a wonderful place to stay! Quiet yet convenient to town. So very nice for our pups. You can close off the porch yet it's still open to the backyard fenced dog area. Very handy! The house was clean and stocked with everything we needed. Lana is very friendly and check in/check out was easy. Thank you for a great vacation. :-)
The property is as described. Had everything you need and was close to town, yet so quiet. Also you cant see it in the pictures but you can close the entire porch (with gate) that opens to a small fenced yard area that was perfect for our 90lb dog.
This cottage was perfect! It was a short distance from Durango yet it felt like we were totally secluded. Even the drive to and from along the Animas River was beautiful. Lana was super responsive to any questions.
Me, my wife and three kids, ages 2-8, had a great week at the cottage. Just as advertised, plenty of privacy, fun setting and conveniently located 6 minutes from Durango and 25 minutes from Purgatory Mountain Resort.

Sweet Cottage, perfect distance to Town.
Great stop! Spent a beautiful weekend at the cottage and in town. Just close enough to Uber into town, but far enough away to feel like you are out in the country. Lana was great to work with and was gracious to let us rent an extra night.
Absolutely loved the location along a quiet stretch of “country” road yet we were a stone’s throw to downtown. We love to ride our bikes and look for places along this stretch of road and we lucked out finding this gem! House is extremely well stocked and felt like home as it had everything we needed. Very quiet property (we loved seeing the deer) with beautiful trees and landscaping. House is dog friendly with a fenced dog run and sweet touches with dedicated dog bowls and treats. Loved the comfort of the king sized bed and how amazingly clean everything was! Will definitely be back! Thank you for a great stay!
Staying here allowed us to have the best perspective of Durango. The surrounding area is picturesque and surreal.
One of the highlights of the day is coming back to a cozy environment after a long day of exploration. The surrounding sounds of nature melt the stress of ‘normal’ life away. All of the small things taken care of. Coffee, food and water dog bowls, biscuits. Really nice glassware. Well decorated and modern interior Thank you so much! We enjoyed every minute staying here. Highly recommend staying here
This was a great place to stay if you are looking to do things in and around Durango, CO. The property is well managed, clean, and has all the amenities of home. Wish I could have stayed another week. Was perfect to get away from the hustle and bustle of city life. Yet, only a short drive to all the amenities of city life. All close to the beauty Colorado has to offer.

Loved it
The family and I thought this was the nicest place we have ever rented. The off season price was not a lot more than a hotel room in Durango. Most definitely a do again. Thanks Lana.

From the moment we pulled up to the cottage with the cliffs in the back round we were in awww... Then once we got inside the place was so clean and has everything you need to cook with and such a beautiful place. We are already talking about our next trip here. So close and covenant to everything too. Everything was spot on...
Occasionally we have run into VRBO's that are not exactly as described in the listing. This is absolutely not the case for this property. It is charming, cozy, quiet and comfortable. We enjoyed every minute we stayed there and even our dog Bodie treated it like home quickly. Additionally, Bodie is a working therapy dog and we so appreciate having him with us. Due to his nature and importance to our community it is difficult to find him the proper care when away. The location is excellent and fit our desires perfectly. Town is not too close, not too far, very accessible. We will return.

Wonderful time at the "Cottage" in Durango
We traveled across country to find this beautiful "Cottage"!! It was the perfect spot to relax and enjoy our gorgeous surroundings. The hostess was so gracious and helpful with all the directions one would need to travel the area!! The Cottage was well stocked with everything one would need to just relax and stay home! This was the second time we stayed with Lana!! BTW don't miss breakfast downtown at the Durango Diner. Mesa Verde is a short drive as are so many other nearby places to visit!!! We will be returning in the future!

Nice and comfy
This was a lovely house with ample privacy in a very quiet setting. Don't be fooled by the somewhat older rougher looking neighborhood down the road as you approach the property from 32nd Street. This property lies among some nice farm houses. The kitchen is amply stocked, the hot tub was exceptionally clean and the beds were very comfortable. The endless hot water tank allowed for our party of four to take back to back showers in the morning. I appreciated the extra towels for hot tub use and the extra BBQ propane tank, just in case. All in all a great stay and would definitely come back next time in the Durango area!

Best Summer!
Everything was exactly as shown in the web pictures. All new kitchen and bathrooms with everything we needed. The porch was actually an extra room for us as we ate outdoors each evening as the sun set. We like this home because we are far enough out of town to have our solitude but in 10 minutes or less we can be at any activity in Durango. There was so much to do that our days were filled with fishing, hiking, bike rides, rafting and of course the train to Silverton! The owners live close by so immediately available should we have had any problems. My family enjoyed "The Cottage" so much this year we will be returning next summer.

Very Cozy
The Cottage is a wonderful vacation home. It is secluded in a private drive area and has beautiful scenery. Our family enjoyed the home very much and we didn't want to leave. Lana was a pleasure to work with from the beginning of our planning to the sad departure of Durango. We were fortunate enough to meet Lana during our stay and she is such a wonderful lady.
The Cottage is a short drive to downtown Durango and close to several restaurants and other fun activities. We never spent too much time in the vehicle getting to our destinations. We were a short drive to a wonderful restaurant that we visited a lot (Doughworks). The Cottage is a pet friendly house and our fury family member definitely felt welcomed. Lana has the house supplied with several pet needs. We highly recommend this home for a family vacation or a romantic get away.

Perfect winter getaway
The cottage is fantastic. The location is private, woodsy but convenient to town. There was everything we needed to cook a Christmas dinner for our family, and everything worked perfectly. The heat was efficient, and the gas stove heater was awesome! We did get in the hot tub a few times, but the chemicals were a little too strong smelling for me. The kids loved it!
I texted Lana for a couple of things, and she was very quick to respond. Thank you!
My only less than stellar critique is that I could have used much brighter lighting. There were no overhead lights in the living room or master bedroom, and it was really dim in those rooms. Great if you want a romantic weekend, but rough for our family in winter light.
We loved the little fenced area for the dogs. We didn’t use it much since it was freezing while we were there, but it was a safe place for them to go if needed. We appreciated the dog bowl and treats.
I used to live in Durango, so it was fun coming back as a tourist and having such a beautiful place to stay. Clean, comfortable and cozy.

Private and secluded mountain home!
A beautiful 5 minute drive from downtown Durango to the Cottage. Once there, you drive up to the cottage through the woods to a private and secluded little house. There are two porches, one with a covered hot tub and the other with a bbq grill and comfortable patio furniture. The inside of the cottage is beautifully appointed with all the wants and needs for a week or month. The view of the upstairs room is a wonderful example of good architected design. The property was exceptionally clean and well-maintained. And also, well equipped. Watching the beautiful mountain sunset from the hot tub was a once in a lifetime experience. From this wonderful home away from home, downtown Durango is available. We experienced dining from a wide variety of cuisines. We had Parisian (Jean Pierre), Steak (Ore House), Burgers (Balcony Café), Mexican (Francisco's), Breakfast (Carver Brewing Co), Italian (Mutu's) and many others. Even found the church of our choice (St. Colombo's). Our hiking excursions included Junction Creek Trail (part of the Colorado Trail) and Animas Mountain Trail. We also enjoyed the city river walk and the many parks in town. We met some lovely Durango natives and felt very welcome. We drove over the passes to Silverton and Ouray on one day and on another day went to Mesa Verde. Both trips were well worth the drive. Spectacular scenery and relatively easy driving. It was great to be here in Summer when it is over 100 degrees in Texas, but our next visit will be in winter to experience the snow! We will be back!
