Peaceful setting in the woods with all the comforts of home. Wake up surrounded by the serenity of nature, where you'll encounter a variety of wildlife...deer, elk, birds, rabbits, in your own front yard. Enjoy a leisurely hike, right out your front door, or just a few miles away you'll find trails to challenge the most avid hikers. Trout/Salmon fishing, rafting, soaking in the hot springs, skiing, biking all within a lovely 1-25 mile drive. Fine dining and entertainment all near by. Don't forget to ride the Durango Silverton Narrow Gauge Train! For winter sports fun, it's just a short drive to Durango Mountain Resort or Wolf Creek. But if your idea of fun is just hanging out at the cabin and taking a nice winter walk, you can hike or snow shoe in the freshly fallen white stuff, then run inside to warm by the fire and sip hot chocolate! Ice skate at Chapman Ice Rink or experience a sleigh ride in Durango. Phenomenal sledding hills are located in our mountain community, at the nearby lake and park. Experience the peace and serenity of our little piece of heaven. You'll no doubt be planning your next visit, before you even begin to head back home! Unfortunately, I am allergic to dogs and cats so we do not allow them.

Amazing winter vacation

Beautiful log cabin in the Colorado Mountains. The cabin has everything you need for a relaxing vacation. We even went looking for land to build a cabin just like this one. We had the best experience with this rental.

The cabin is nice in clean. Over all great stay. Did not like that you had to take your trash and put it into your vehicle and take it down the hill and across the street,and the time frame you had to do it we were already out doing things.The pictures of the out side of the place were out dated it looked,because you were surrounded by homes.

Enjoyed our stay!

Place was very accommodating, quiet, and relaxing. Owner ensured our arrival and departure went smoothly and provided simple instructions making our stay easily manageable. Certainly enjoyed the location especially in the fall where nature's colors are abundant. Would definitely visit again.

Perfect Mountain Getaway

We were happy to stay in this comfortable, clean, well equipped and beautifully decorated home in Forest Lakes. We've stayed here several times in summer and fall and each time it feels like home.

This was our second stay in this comfortable mountain home. It is attractively decorated and extremely clean. We enjoyed sitting on the porch watching the deer and birds after our busy days exploring the Vallecito and Durango area.

Annual Colorado vacation

Very nice cabin. Jan is an exceptional Host . Quickly responded to requests, just nice people. Plenty of deer and Hummingbirds coming to the feeder daily. Nice quiet area.

Great cabin and property owner

We happened to be here during a HEAVY snowstorm. The property owners were so helpful and so were the neighbors. Great communication. Cabin was so cozy and warm with all the snow outside. Would highly recommend this cabin.

A little peace of heaven

This place is truly a piece of heaven, very peaceful and beautiful. Loved setting on the porch and watching the wildlife stroll through. The cabin was very clean and cozy. Jan was very helpful and quick to respond if you needed or had any questions. Will definitely recommend to stay here and will will definitely be coming back.

Girls trip

Nice little cabin, tucked up in the woods, outside of town. Cabin was very clean, and user friendly. Its a great place for a small gathering, and close enough to Durango that you could take in activities, such as shoping or the Jeep/train tour(highly recommend), or some really wonderful food(El Moro, Gazpacho). But was far enough away from town that you had privacy, and the quietness of the woods, even with neighbors near by.

Everythimg you would hope for

This cabin is a 10 out of 10. Great location inbetween pagosa spings and durango. Beautifully placed. Tucked into the wilderness where you are sure to see some wildlife every day. The property itself is gorgeous! It is like something you would see in a magazine. The beds are memory foam and super comfortable. It is fully loaded with everything you could possible need. Highly recommended!

Fall Getaway

We've stayed at this property many times and it feels like home. The cabin is comfortable and welcoming, decorated in a mountain theme and equipped with everything we needed. Fall colors in the area were not quite at peak but so beautiful anyway. The deer family payed us daily visits as did the wild turkeys. We wished we could have stayed longer.

A beautiful cabin with everything you will need!

We stayed at Stan and Jan's cabin for a week and absolutely loved it! It is nestled in the trees and is such a beautiful cabin. Everything is quality in it...from the furniture to the new carpet to the fixtures to the towels. The kitchen has EVERYTHING you can imagine. You will not need to bring anything with you. We brought our groceries and cooked up everything we needed to with ease. Also, this cabin is very clean! You'd think with all of the wood and decor that there would be a little dust...not even a little! We enjoyed sitting on the front porch watching the deer in the yard (we saw deer every day near the cabin!) and seeing the American flag lit up at night. We also enjoyed sitting on the back porch in the cool breeze after grilling up some burgers on their grill! There is plenty of room in this house as well! The bedrooms are large and there is plenty of space! And Jan is easy to get ahold of and responds quickly! I would definitely come back to this cabin and would recommend it if you are in the Bayfield or Durango area. We mostly did stuff in Durango and it's about a 30 minute drive to anywhere in Durango. But it was nice to retreat back to our little cabin at the end of each day!

Home Sweet Cabin

Just the coziest place for my husband and two adult children to stay during our vacation to the Durango area. Well stocked kitchen with spices galore, a grill, a H-U-G-E TV and comfy sofas and beds. Wonderful place near Bayfield!!

We came to Colorado for a volleyball competition. We were close to all of her games and our family of 6 had a wonderful, relaxing time in this very comfortable home!

Cozy cabin with Mule friends!

It was everything that Jan and Stan listed! The only thing you need is your personal belongings, everything else was provided! There was things stocked: coffee, bath supplies, seasonings, etc! Game closet (family feud was our favorite & first time playing) It is very relaxing & beautiful! God Bless!

Inviting, quiet, pleasant, comfortable, modern, spacious cabin. Plenty of space for the two couples which made up our group. Probably the highlight for us all was the proximity to the San Juan National Forest. We were able to access a nearby trailhead- which we did often - without getting in the car.
