Welcome to your idyllic home away from home in this spacious and serene property. Our house is in St. Saturnin de Lucian, a picturesque medieval village in the heart of the Languedoc wine country. It is a beautifully restored three-storey townhouse offering the perfect blend of traditional charm and cozy comfort. Nestled in the tranquil L’Herault region of France, and set against the backdrop of rolling hills and vineyards, it is the ideal spot to relax and unwind.
The Space - Spread across three spacious levels, this four bedroom house can comfortably accommodate families, groups of friends, or couples seeking a peaceful getaway in the sun-drenched South of France. The ground floor has two separate entrances: the main one at the side of the house, and a second one opening into the large, eat-in kitchen. The stone walls and tiled floors keep the downstairs cool in the summer, but there’s also a wood burner to keep you warm and cozy on winter nights. Off of the kitchen is a formal dining room, a utility room with a toilet anda washing machine, and a vestibule where bicycles may be stored. A staircase to the first floor leads into a large living room, with a sofa that opens out to a bed, a television, books, and games. Off of this main room is the master bedroom with a super-king size bed and a full, en-suite bathroom. A second double bedroom can be found off of the other side of the living room. Another staircase leads to the top floor. The top floor may be used as a self-contained flat, with an open-planned living space, complete with a kitchen and eating area. This level is also comprised of two further bedrooms, one with a trundle bed and fold out small double bed, the other with a lovely four poster double bed and its own private terrace. There is also a bathroom with a shower. For additional sleeping space, there is a clic-clad sofa in the living room and a small, fold out single futon mattress in the smaller bedroom. The crowning jewel of the property is the large, sunny rooftop terrace. It’s a haven where you can enjoy your morning coffee, sunbathe, have a late afternoon aperitif, or dine under the stars. St. Saturnin is a charming village known for its friendly locals, quiet streets, and rich, natural beauty. We have a local epicerie which always has a fresh supply of bread and croissant as well as good coffee! In the centre of town there’s also a restaurant, if you fancy a meal out - or just a cocktail or two. Close by are hiking and cycling trails which wind through the Garrigue hills and olive groves. Also nearby is the Lac du Salagou for water sports, picnicking and swimming. Or if you prefer the beach, Cap d’Agde is only forty minutes by car. Other attraction are the Cirque de Navacelle and the Grotte de Clamouse. The historic town of Clermont L’Heraul with its markets, restaurants, and shoppin is just a ten minute drive, while the medieval villages of St. Guillem le Desert and Pezenas are also close by. Whether you just want to stay home and relax, or take a day trip here or there, this home provides the perfect base.

About the host
Hosted by Judith Nelson
It’s wonderful to share this with people. When we’re in St. Saturnin, we love to spend the day at the lake (Salagou), go for ice cream in St. Guillem le Desert, and spend Sunday mornings at the flea market in Clermont L’Herault.
Why they chose this property
It has everything. The vineyards, the gorges, the sun and the medieval beauty. And the wine!
What makes this property unique
It’s such a special house. One wall is 11th century, part of the original fortress walls of the village. We love the church bells and the intimacy. And the terrace is the perfect place to congregate for any reason!
