Well-located and cosy for a winter break. Great pub and walks nearby. Well-stocked. No major issues though oven needs cleaning and fridge defrosting! Would definitely stay again.

Just gorgeous
This was our 3rd stay at The Roost and we simply love it. The cottage is super sweet and cosy and was perfectly clean. The Beds are very comfortable too - we love how quiet the village is at night with just the sound of the owls hooting but still with the local store and pub just on your doorstep so you don't feel completely isolated. Love staying here. Thank you.

Well-kept cottage in a beautiful location
We booked the Roost for a family of 4 (2 adults 2 young kids) in April and had a very positive experience, both with booking and the stay itself.
The cottage is clean and well-kept and had all the facilities we needed. It has a beautiful garden which the kids loved, and is in very close proximity to a playground, a community stores which is well stocked and the excellent New Inn. Though not central, Coln is a short drive away from most sites.
The only minor complaint was lack of instructions regarding waste collection, otherwise cannot complain about anything.

A wonderful, peaceful stay at The Roost
My sister and I spent 5 nights at this lovely cottage in late April. We picked the best week to visit - sunny each day. The cottage has 2 bedrooms which is perfect for a couple of friends or family of 3 or 4. We each had our own bedroom, which provided ample storage. The bathroom was spacious and the rain shower amazing! Kitchen had everything we needed, although we barely used it as we were out every day from morning to night. It had a smaller fridge than regular size, but adequate for short stays. There is a garden at the back of the property which we didn't use, but would be ideal for longer stays or quiet retreat if not out exploring each day. There is also a pub nearby which serves great food & drinks. A small convenice shop up the road, but we did not use it - as it closes early each day. We found the location perfect and easy drive to many lovely villages & towns. Would definitely recommend!

Great location
Lovely cottage in a great location with amazing pub & walks. Coln is a lovely village and we have stayed in it a number of times. Unfortunately The Roost needs a bit of TLC as it’s starting to look tired in places……we had problems with the heating, the vacuum was not working so we unblocked it, we couldn’t use the freezer as it needs defrosting and the hard floors were dirty. There were no instructions for the rubbish & recycling. Some of the soft furnishings are also badly marked and we had to mend two of the Roman blinds. These are all things which could be easily sorted and would have made our stay more
comfortable.
