About this property
One of four delightful cottages on this private site at Trevose Head Lighthouse
In association with Trinity House, Rural Retreats is pleased to present Verity Cottage at Trevose Head Lighthouse.
Verity is one of four holiday cottages available at the lighthouse which is located on a headland between the sandy beaches of Harlyn and Constantine Bays, four miles west of Padstow. The Lighthouse was built in 1847, electrified in 1973 and automated in 1995. The site is not open to the public and the four cottages are sheltered beneath a headland 75' above the sea, accessed via a one-mile-long private road. Fine views out to sea and the chance to watch the fishing boats coming in and out of Padstow.
The cottages are semi-detached, with the lighthouse positioned in the middle. At the front, there is a communal tarmac forecourt with parking. To the rear, on the sea side, there is a shared, walled, grass area which is fenced at the cliff edge. (In the interest of safety, it is recommended that guests do not use this space). The South West Coast path runs round the headland and on towards Padstow.

Very good

PROS: Great location and views. Very clean. Washing machine is a nice addition. Generous supplies to get started.
CONS: 1) There is NO Internet access. There is a router and it has Wi-Fi, but the service doesn't work. Hosts provide instructions to reboot it and state in the house rules that lack of Internet is not an "emergency", so clearly they know it is an issue. It is a remote location, so probably not their fault, but there are ways to resolve this. You also get no cellular coverage. No one visits Cornwall to surf the web, but in a new place, you expect to be able to look things up. Maps, restaurants, etc. 2) Appliances could use some simple instructions. Hard to look up how to use the combo washer/dryer or what the icons on the oven mean with no Internet access. 3) A powered gate would be nice.
OVERALL: It was a unique experience and I recommend it. Just be prepared and understand what you are getting into.
