About the host
Your host
We’re experienced hosts who genuinely care about providing comfortable, well-maintained homes for people to enjoy.
Alongside holiday accommodation, we also manage domestic lettings, and we take real satisfaction in creating spaces where people feel settled, relaxed, and well cared for.
Foxlea Cottage is particularly special to us because we built it ourselves, by hand, with the intention of creating a welcoming place for guests to enjoy our village, the surrounding countryside, and nearby Chester.
A great deal of time, care, and effort went into its design and finish, and that attention to detail continues in how we look after the cottage today.
We respect our guests’ privacy, but we’re always available if help is needed, and we aim to make every stay straightforward, comfortable, and enjoyable.

Why they chose this property
I was born and brought up in this area, so Saughall has always felt like home to me. It’s a village that offers a genuine sense of community, while still being incredibly convenient for everyday life and for visiting places of interest.
What I’ve always loved about the area is the balance it offers. It’s peaceful and green, with countryside walks, open spaces, and a relaxed pace of life, yet Chester is only minutes away. You can enjoy village life one moment and be in the city the next, whether for shopping, restaurants, history, or events.
Over the years, I’ve seen how much visitors enjoy staying here. Guests often comment on how quiet and friendly the village feels, how easy it is to get around, and how surprised they are by how much there is to see and do nearby. It’s a lovely area to visit, whether you’re coming for a short break, a family trip, or simply to relax and unwind.
Living here has always made sense to me, and sharing the area with guests through Foxlea Cottage has been a pleasure.

What makes this property unique
Foxlea Cottage offers a rare combination of peaceful village living and exceptional accessibility. Tucked away in a quiet spot in the picturesque village of Saughall, the cottage feels calm and relaxed, yet it is just five minutes from Chester city centre. A frequent bus service stops directly outside the property, running from early morning until late evening, making it easy to explore the area without relying on a car.
The location is ideal for guests who enjoy variety. Within a short walk are a traditional pub, tea room, village shop, pharmacy, takeaway, hairdresser, and a well-kept park with a modern children’s play area. At the same time, scenic countryside walks begin right from the doorstep, leading through the Shotwick Park Estate, Bluebell Woods, and up to an ancient castle site with far-reaching views towards the Welsh hills.
The cottage itself is designed to be flexible and welcoming. The open-plan ground floor is light-filled and sociable, while the upstairs sleeping area provides privacy and quiet. Sleeping arrangements can adapt to different types of guests, working particularly well for couples, families, or small groups staying for short breaks. The under-eaves space is a charming feature that children often find exciting, and it also provides very useful storage for suitcases and larger items on longer stays.
Foxlea Cottage has been successfully let as a holiday home since 2018 and has built a strong reputation for comfort, cleanliness, and thoughtful hosting, including guest-choice awards on major holiday rental platforms. This experience shows in the care taken with the property and the attention given to making guests feel at home.
Whether you’re looking for a relaxing village escape, a family-friendly base close to attractions, or a convenient location for exploring Chester, Cheshire, and North Wales, Foxlea Cottage offers a distinctive balance of calm, comfort, and connection.
