Blackway house is a big spacious house but it is abit worn in places.it could do with redecorating as walls were stained ,also had cracks and holes in places. It needs a thorough clean as there was cobwebs and spiders everywhere and lots of flies especially in the kitchen . There was a welcome book but it was out of date and very contradictory , the owner who lives literally across the courtyard didn’t explain the do’s and don’t’s very clearly. She was very rude and harsh if you misunderstood one , even coming to the back door to complain about an outside light on. The house/garden needs clear signs stating where you can and can’t go on the property, because it isn’t clear , and you get told off if you are on parts you shouldn’t be. The drive states it has parking for 10 cars - we barely fit 8 at a very tight squeeze. You have to pay extra for the outdoor fire pit which should be in the price. There is chipped bowls in the kitchen and hardly any equipment in there, we had 3 teaspoons for a house that caters for 20 people. No bin bags were there and the owner is very hot on eco products and recycling yet there was only 1 black bin and 1 green bin outside which is ridiculous as there are normal size but for 2 houses one which holds 20 people- the bins are hard to find aswell and when we went to put in our weekends worth of recycling it was full to the brim! I feel if the house continues to be rented out ,it should be done up and cleaned properly first and the owner really needs to decide if she actually wants to rent it out because she is very harsh and strict which puts a dampener on your stay.

The size and location of Blackway House are great, and we enjoyed the celebrating a birthday there.

The location of Blackway House is great, and it's set in lovely grounds with plenty of outside space. It was ideal for our large group for a weekend, with plenty of sleeping space and a large kitchen diner and two generous living rooms. Given the cost of the property we were disappointed to have to pay extra to check in an hour early and to see that other things like using the outside fire pit also cost extra. Unfortunately the TV didn't work, and using the toaster caused the electrics to short. Some of the crockery and kitchen items were dirty, (mouldy tea pot), unwashed oven dishes etc. We were hosting a party and 17 people stayed the night, so it would have been handy not to have had to wash things first. It also would have been handy to have an extra bin bag and tea towels. Unfortunately we were also a bit disappointed by the showers in the property as none had much in the way of water pressure, and given the price of rental, we'd hoped for something a bit better. The owner met us at check in and showed us around which was helpful. She lives on site and invited us to knock if we needed anything. We did on one occasion, but unfortunately she wasn't available. She later let us know she was unavailable at check out, and gave us details of where to leave keys. In summary the size and location of Blackway House are great, and we enjoyed the weekend there celebrating a birthday.
