Town: Chwilog is a small village on the Llyn Peninsula, near the Snowdonia National Park in North Wales, in a region of Wales renowned for its outstanding scenery and varied walking. The Afon Wen river runs through the village and down to the sea, just one mile away. A short drive away, Criccieth is a delightful seaside town with a 13th century castle sat on a rocky outcrop with wonderful views of Tremadog Bay and the Snowdonia mountains. Watersports enthusiasts will be delighted by the towns two beaches, whilst walkers and bikers are spoilt for choice by the proximity of the beautiful Snowdonia National Park. Stroll along the beaches, watch porpoises playing in the surf, or relax in the various pubs, restaurants and tea rooms, sampling the famous Cadwalader’s ice cream. Visit Abersoch, an attractive harbour village situated between two glorious bays. It is one of the most popular sailing venues in North Wales and important sailing regattas are held there throughout the summer months. Numerous shops cater for the tourist as well as pubs, restaurants and cafes. Watersports enthusiasts are also well catered for, particularly windsurfing, water skiing and dinghy sailing, not to mention renowned surfing at Hell’s Mouth. Further afield, attractions such as Portmeirion’s wonderful Italianate gardens, the individual shops and restaurants, as well as the Ffestiniog railway, in the bustling harbour town of Porthmadog, Harlech Castle, Pwllheli host to both European and world sailing events, Caernarfon Castle and the beautiful beaches and renowned golf courses of the Llyn Peninsula are all within an easy drive.
