About this property
5 Bed in Freshwater (oc-w30476)
An enticing Isle of Wight retreat, this gorgeous period cottage makes an exceptional hideaway for a large group on holiday together. Sleeping 10 guests, it offers beautiful accommodation across three storeys and is a perfect base for an extended family group or two families. Finished with flair and encompassing a lovely, enclosed garden, the five-bedroom house is situated at Freshwater, less than 1 mile from the beach and 3 miles from Yarmouth. From Freshwater Bay, you can enjoy a 6-mile circular walk, taking you out past the magnificent Needles. Also pause at Alum Bay, with its famous coloured sand. The National Trust’s Compton Bay, 3.5 miles away, with its picturesque beach and great expanses of downland, is also a wonderful place to spend time for those who enjoy the great outdoors. If you have children, Blackgang Chine, the oldest amusement park in the country, is 12 miles from the house.
Wander inside to find bright, airy accommodation with appealing, understated decor and furnishings and an exceptional level of comfort. At ground-floor level, there are two cosy lounges to choose between. Each accommodating five and six guests respectively and has a sumptuous velvet sofa. One of these has an open fire and the other features a wood burner to toast beside after crisp autumn and winter walks. Each also has a Smart TV, so you can separate into smaller groups and choose whether to watch an exciting film or catch up on the latest boxset. There is also an inviting dining room with a bespoke, handmade wooden table where you can congregate for your lively holiday meals. The piano room, where you can throw open the French doors to the garden on warm days, is perfect for those wishing to tickle the ivories or simply enjoy a few quiet moments to themselves. Also downstairs are a handy family shower room and a useful utility room. Please note there are steps between the piano room and utility room, as well as to access the shower room. Your stylish bedrooms are arranged over the upper storeys of the house. The second family shower room is on the first floor, together with one of your sumptuous king-size bedrooms, a twin and a single. The second king-size is on the floor above, along with a triple bedroom, featuring a bunkbed and a single that the children in your party will adore.
Spill out into the sunshine on fine days to savour the delightful outside space provided at this Isle of Wight house. There is a small front garden and a side gate leading to a seating area for two, set under a lovely vine. To the rear of the house, the enclosed garden offers ample space to cook on the BBQ, dine in the fresh air and linger over a bottle of wine under starry skies. There is off-road parking here for two cars.
