The South West Coast Path links the bay to Bude – visit for shops, cafes and canal-side strolls or, for a unique swimming experience, head to the tidal pool at Summerleaze Beach. Further north, the Hartland Peninsula sits on the border between Devon and Cornwall. The former harbour at Hartland Quay (19 miles) has rugged cliffs and dramatic rock formations, while a similar distance south, Tintagel is famous for its iconic castle, inextricably linked with the legend of King Arthur. Stop en route at Boscastle (13 miles) – the village’s beautiful harbour is steeped in history while inland, the Valency Valley is one of the few wooded areas in North Cornwall.
