Communication with the host was excellent and the location between the Chateau and Church was well located. Having a dedicated parking spot a short walk from the apartment was a super bonus. Plenty of restaurants and shops around as well as handy access to other wonderful villages and interesting sites. Many “Pros” to staying here. Yet there are also “Cons” from this visitors point of view. The entry was tiny and filthy as the first spot to see upon entering the apartment. There are 30 narrow stairs to ascend before reaching the living room/ kitchen level with 18 more to reach the bedrooms. That said, the agent most graciously took all of my bags upstairs for me upon arrival and brought them down upon leaving. The rooms were reasonably clean, but the stairwell was not. The property was advertised with a washer/dryer combination. There was no electric dryer, only a dryer rack!The open stairwell with no door on the bedroom floor made me feel insecure although I was assured I had the only key to the front door. Also, strange holes in the millwork trim further made me insecure as I thought there could be cameras in those holes. There are two restaurants below the apartment which was both handy as well as unpleasant most mornings due to the cooking smells wafting through the vents and into the entire apartment. So, good and bad in this rental. Gordes hosts a wonderful market every Tuesday morning, a monthly craft market, and a yearly book fair. Wonderful entertainment!
