About this property

Drummochy - sleeps 8 guests in 4 bedrooms

Homelands is a charitable trust which provides accessible luxury self catering accommodation in 9 purpose built lodges (Massney, Cardy, Keil, Drummochy, Selkirk, Largo, Lundin, Durham and Emsdorf). The lodges are situated in the picturesque village of Lundin Links overlooking Lundin Links Golf course with open views to Edinburgh over the Firth of Forth.

Lundin Links sits just 12 miles from St Andrews, the home of golf, and a short distance from the East Neuk's rugged coastline and its character filled fishing villages such as Crail, Anstruther, and Pitenweem. Lower Largo and Lundin Links themselves are famed for their links to the original Robinson Crusoe (Alexander Selkirk) whose birthplace in Lower Largo is a short distance from the Lodge. The village features a bar, restaurant, sports club (including tennis courts) and a small parade of shops including pharmacy, butchers, bakers, post office, and general store all within a short distance of the lodges.

The region is famed for its outdoor sports/activities, water sports, history and fresh produce / sea food; served in many of the local restaurants which range from Michelin Starred to world famous and favoured by Royals fish and chips in Anstruther.

Further afield we are an hour from Edinburgh (Scotland's Capital City) and Dundee which houses the Discovery museum and V&A Dundee, Scotland’s first design museum

The lodges have been specifically designed with accessibility in mind and a wealth of features have been incorporated into the designs to ensure they are as accessible as possible, including specialist support equipment/ facilities such as ceiling tracking hoists, a full spacious wetroom, profiling beds, airflow mattress, Clos-o-Mat toilet (depending upon lodge) and riser/recliner chair. We can also provide a range of specialist equipment free of charge on request such as mobile hoists, various shower chairs, a shower trolley, and equipment for people who have a hearing loss. These specialist items must be booked in advance and are allocated on a first come first served basis. For more information about what we provide please get in touch, our helpful staff will happily discuss your requirements.

Well thought out accessible accommodation

Once again Homelands has given us the chance to celebrate Christmas with the whole family, providing wonderfully accessible space for our daughter's large wheelchair as well as room for our 2 young grandchildren to play.

Great Weekend

Our eighth year of coming for an October weekend with all the family. A really nice lodge with plenty of space for my powerchair and homeland provided aids. Also a great location with views out over the Forth and nice beach walks.

Home from Home!

A stay in Drummochy at Homelands is like a home from home. They provide everything you need for each member of the family, especially those with a disability. Access is easy on the ground floor, with wide doorways and a huge wetroom and the upstairs rooms are spacious and comfortable. Having used the facilities a number of times already, I was delighted that my suggestions had been acted on when I arrived this time - a step stool to assist me in reaching the high cupboards and pasta bowls for everyone! The staff in reception are very accommodating and helpful. We have booked for next year already!!

a good short break

I feel so relaxed and refreshed with the view of the golf course from the bedroom and living room and I very much appreciated the peaceful atmosphere within the lodge I've now seen parts of Scotland that make it beautiful to see.

Excellent family holiday

We've been to Drummochy a few times and the update to the property give it a fresh feel. The eight of us had a very relaxing time in a nice location. All the equipment I needed was supplied free of charge and worked as well as my own.

A beautiful lodge with everything we needed and more

Thanks for a wonderful weekend. Our family enjoyed the chance to bring our friend with additional needs. It’s the only place that could accommodate all our needs, and allowed us to bring our dogs too. Very well equipped and excellent disabled facilities. The accommodation was perfect and the views spectacular. We will be definitely arranging to come back soon. I also work in soical in social care and have recommended Homelands Trust to all my colleagues

Everything you could nee

I was recommended this place by one of my carers who’d visited With her other client and her family. This is hands down the best accessible holiday spot we’ve ever been to. Myself and my sister are both wheelchair users who require hoisting so to find a place that provides all the equipment we needed was invaluable. The property itself was excellent, a spacious kitchen/living room area that actually had a lowered work surface so that I could help cook! Everything in the property was thought of, the staff were really friendly and helpful and we couldn’t ask for anything better. Thank you

Excellent holiday home especially for disabled person

We love to go to this holiday home. It’s well equipped, very well designed and very clean and regularly updated. My only issue is with the comfort of the profile bed mattress. I have painful joints and found I needed to lie on the duvet and have another on top of me which made all the difference. Any advice re the mattress would be very welcome. The upgrade to the house was evident and it looked new. We have already booked to return.

Overall a great stay

Overall a great stay and wouldn't hesitate to recommend to someone who had mobility needs. The area is lovely and the locals are friendly. The house was lovely, clean (except for afew giant cobwebs) and we'll stocked with cutlery, crockery etc. Comfortable beds and couches. My little niggles where with the equipment we hired, we arrived late, due to several accidents on our way, no fault of homelands obviously but it ment, arriving and bed rails not being fitted, with no clear instructions how to use them, ment we had to come up with other solutions, then we then stuck with, rather than confuse one of our guest with the mobility issues as they are also registered blind. There was also wheelchair we hired, it wasn't made clear on ordering there was a limit on size available, meaning our 2nd guest with mobility issues, an ambulatory user was left with no chair for our break, they did try to use a manual chair but unfortunately pieces where missing from it and because they where questioned on their disability, they didn't feel they could go back again the seek the right equipment. We where unable to bring all equipment ourselves as we are normally a 5 with a 7 seater car but on this occasion we where a 6 in the same car, giving us no room for 2 chairs and 6 peoples luggage. Our extra guest uses a wheelchair chair full-timeso the offer of equipment hire was very appealing but it does need to be much clearer on sizes so people can be more prepared. Overall a great house the grounds are well maintained and views are beautiful. I don't want this to be a negative review, it's not but we could adapt slightly, others may not be able to.

Really lovely place to stay and surroundings where amazing

Legally nice comfortable place to stay the cleaning could do with a bit of updating but was fine. not sure if the cleaning was done in a bit of a hurry. Although it was perfectly adequate and all facilities were amazing and it made our holiday really comfortable.

A wonderful break for my disabled wife in first class accommodation with all the facilities we need

Drummochy provided a first class level of accommodation for my disabled wife and our family to enjoy a week long break in Fife. Every specialist item we required to make the holiday easier for my wife was provided. The lodges are designed to a very high specification level whilst being both very attractive and comfortable. This was our first visit to Fife and the lodges are beautifully located within easy reach of the attractive seaside villages of East Neuk. We were joined by some members of our family including our youngest grandson who enjoyed the space and outside garden. We will be back!

Perfect Christmas

Stayed over Christmas, the property has been newly refurbished and felt brand new. Great facilities, fresh and clean. The office was closed due to Christmas break but this had no impact. The floor had been newly done so was a little slippery but luckily we had slippers and the dog soon got used to it! The underfloor heating kept us cosy, although it was a little too hot when we arrived as it was set to 26 degrees. Overall we have a 10/10 stay. The Christmas tree and box of biscuits was a nice touch too.

This is an excellent house and it’s very thoughtful around the needs of disabled people.

The house and facilities are excellent. I strongly recommend these houses to anyone. It was warm although it was very cold one evening. The facilities are well thought out. The Bob the builder jigsaw is missing a piece! Two things we noticed. The single beds are quite narrow. My son, had he been there , would not have been able to use it and last time we were with you my husband fell out of the bed because of its narrowness. Perhaps a soft additional sheet would make the adapted bed more comfortable to lie on, especially in winter months. And finally I was delighted to see the new leather recliner but it’s rather firm and I got uncomfortable after an hour or so. Maybe a fleece on top would help? On reflection I might have brought a pillow through to try with it. It will soften in time I expect!

A Great Place to Stay!

We have stayed at Homelands a number of times and enjoyed the freedom it allows the whole family to have. As well as having all the facilities to accommodate a wheelchair and a supersized wetroom, the location is ideal for exploring the Fife coast without having to travel too far. Drummochy is one of the older properties and is beginning to need a spruce up in the living/kitchen area but the bedrooms are still looking good. What I would like to see is a little more care with the cleaning of all the rooms and additional dishes/ cutlery and linen/towels to provide for 8 people staying there for a week. We had to put the dishwasher on at least 3 times a day just to keep up with meals and had to bring in our own towels in order to be comfortable and clean. If you are eating out, this would not be an issue but if you have specialised dietary requirements, it would make the stay less stressful.

Our Happy Place

This was our 5th stay at Homelands and our 4th at Drummochy. We looked for a long time for somewhere suitable to meet our son’s needs and this is perfect. We now make it an annual holiday for him, ourselves and our close family. The accommodation is superb and the setting is very pretty. You can have as much privacy as you wish there, with very helpful and friendly staff available should you need them. There is a pleasant sense of community with people staying in the other lodges and it feels safe and accepting. It was lovely to meet some of the committed volunteers and a Trustee who were doing a great job maintaining the gardens. There are beautiful coastal villages to visit locally, plenty of farm shops and, within half an hours drive, you are at St Andrews, which has something for everyone- including an accessible boardwalk at the beach and Beach Wheelchairs. We have already booked to stay at Drummochy next year!
