About this property

Craig y Mor, Holiday Cottage Newport, Sleeps 10, 5 bedrooms, bathrooms

Craig y Môr enjoys a truly stunning waterfront location, just yards from the sea on the Parrog in Newport. This substantial semi-detached Victorian house sits directly on the sea wall, offering breath-taking ever-changing views across the Nevern Estuary, out to sea and over Newport Sands. When the tide is low, you can drive along the beach to unload your belongings, then park in the nearby boat club car park and stroll along the short scenic footpath by the sea wall to the house.A lawned garden wraps around the front and side of the property — the perfect place to enjoy morning coffee or an evening glass of wine on the benches while gazing out over the estuary, headland and open sea. The setting is simply magical.Inside, many original Victorian features have been beautifully retained, including high ceilings, wooden floors and a striking original tiled hallway. This leads through to the spacious sitting room, furnished with ample comfortable seating. The large bay window frames wonderful sea views, while the open fire creates a cosy retreat on cooler evenings. The generous kitchen/dining room is ideal for relaxed family meals and social gatherings, with French doors opening into a light-filled conservatory, offering further comfortable seating. Bifold doors lead out to the rear garden — a sheltered, sunny spot perfect for al fresco dining. A useful ground-floor shower room completes the downstairs accommodation.Upstairs, the first floor offers four beautifully furnished bedrooms and a family bathroom, all decorated in calming coastal tones of soft blues and fresh whites. The main double bedroom boasts stunning sea views from its bay window when the tide is high, it feels as though you are floating on the water itself; — wake to the sun shimmering on the water and fall asleep to the gentle sound of waves below. Three further twin rooms include one with sea views and two looking towards the dramatic mountain rising behind the house. A spacious en-suite double bedroom nestles in the eaves, with dormer windows offering both sea and mountain views.Perfectly positioned just yards from the water, Craig y Môr allows you to leave your car behind and embrace a slower pace of life, with everything you need within easy walking distance. There is a popular tea room close by, and Newport’s shops, galleries, pubs and restaurants are all within a short walk. The Pembrokeshire Coastal Path passes directly in front of the house, inviting you to explore this spectacular coastline with its hidden sandy coves — head out towards Cwm-yr-Eglwys, around Dinas Island and on to Pwllgwaelod, a walk sure to become a favourite. At low tide, you can even wade barefoot across the shallow inlet to Newport Sands to spend your days on the beach or take a leisurely stroll around the estuary where the birdlife and wildlife are simply captivating.Newport is a haven for sailors and those who enjoy life on the water, and Craig y Môr sits at the heart of this vibrant maritime community, with regular events centred around the nearby boat club and the area’s rich seafaring history. While keen golfers will love the local course with its spectacular sea views from many greens, followed by a well-earned meal at the Cat Rock Cafe.If you can tear yourself away from the water, head inland to climb Carn Ingli — the Mountain of Angels — where awe-inspiring views over the coastline reward the effort and make the climb truly worthwhile.Craig y Môr is the perfect family holiday home or an idyllic retreat for friends to reunite, right by the sea, offering comfort and space, relax, unwind, and enjoy coastal living whatever the season.
