About this property

The Old Windmill

The Old Windmill is a truly enchanting Norfolk retreat, steeped in history and brimming with character. Once a working mill house complete with its own windmill, this remarkable four-storey cottage has been lovingly transformed into a unique holiday haven, perfect for memorable group getaways. Sleeping up to eight guests, it sits peacefully in the charming village of Hindolveston, just 7.5 miles from the bustling market town of Holt and 11.5 miles from the beautiful North Norfolk coast at Salthouse.

Inside, the property blends bright, airy living spaces with original features that hint at its fascinating past. On the ground floor, you'll find two welcoming lounges, ideal for spreading out and relaxing. Both offer Smart TVs with soundbar and surround sound, while both spaces open directly onto the garden. Curl up with a book, enjoy music, or tinkle the ivories on the piano. The spacious kitchen/diner is made for spending quality time together, with a well-equipped kitchen, garden access for warm summer breezes, and a dining table just a step down for sociable meals.

Also on the ground floor is a family wet room and a lounge with a sofa bed, which may suit guests with reduced mobility. At the foot of the tower, the reception hall houses a table football game for friendly competition. Climb the curved staircase within the tower to reach a snug with another Smart TV, along with a super-king-size bedroom, a twin bedroom, and a family bathroom with both bath and shower. As the tower narrows upwards, you'll find two further double bedrooms on the upper floors, each offering fabulous views and a wonderfully unique place to wake up.

Outside, the large, unenclosed garden is ideal for relaxing and socializing. Dine alfresco, enjoy a glass of wine under the stars, and soak up the peaceful village atmosphere — while keeping an eye on younger guests. Private parking is available for up to six cars.

Perfectly placed for exploring North Norfolk, The Old Windmill is close to family attractions such as the dinosaur adventure park at Lenwade and Pensthorpe Wildlife Park as well as beautiful coastal villages such as Blakeney and Cley Next the Sea. Take a nostalgic steam train journey on the North Norfolk Railway from Holt to Sheringham, where sandy beaches, independent shops, and classic seaside treats await.
