About this property
Cosy Highland Cottage in the Woods in Cairngorms National Park
Escape from the ordinary!
With its distinctive red roof, Bridgend Cottage nestles peacefully amidst the pine forests in the foothills of Morven. Situated in the Cairngorms National Park, in the heart of Royal Deeside this recently renovated highland cottage offers stylish interiors that harmonise with its location. This charming bolthole provides a comfortable escape from the hustle and bustle of modern life, a special place to relax and unwind with nature on your doorstep…
The cottage is small but perfectly formed. It has been newly renovated to a very high standard. The bedroom and living area have open ceilings and exposed ties giving a lovely character to the spaces. All rooms have views into the woods beyond the garden area.
On entering by the back door there is a small vestibule with a coat hanging area and a small cupboard. The shower room, with its rain shower is accessed off this vestibule.
A part glazed door takes you into a good sized kitchen full of modern appliances. The kitchen is well equipped with a electric hob and oven, microwave, dish washer, fridge freezer and washing machine. We have included all the utensils and crockery that you would need for your stay. The kitchen leads to the open plan dining and living area. The kingsized bedroom is off the dining area.
In the living area there are 2 sofas, a woodburning stove and a TV connected to the 4G Wifi. The dining area has a table to seat up to 6 people.
With high levels of insulation and underfloor heating and controlled by digital thermostats the cottage keeps a cosy and level temperature perfect for whatever the Scottish weather brings! For the winter months there is a wood burning stove. (We ask guests not to alter the thermostats as this could lead to problems with the heating or no heating!)
Locally, there is a small country pub 'The Airedale' that serves food and drink. Further afield and a 15 minute drive away you have Tarland, Aboyne and Ballater each with their bespoke shops, country pubs, restaurants and cafes.
There are numerous walks from the dooestep of the cottage. The Corbett of Morven is close by if you fancy a more challenging walk. The views from the top are well worth the climb!
This is a rural cottage which presently has no access to fibre broadband so the Wifi is via a 4g router. It can be slow at times but usually very reliable. The TV (including live channels) uses the Wifi so can occasionally buffer.
At present the bedroom has 2 velux roof lights without blinds. If you need a pitch black room to sleep then please take a sleep mask with you. Even the moon and stars can shine through during the night!
The cottage must be booked by the person who will actually be staying in the house. It cannot be booked on behalf of anyone else. This is a very important rule and something we cannot be flexible on. If this rule is broken, we reserve the right to refuse your stay and not provide a refund.
The cottage is served by a septic tank and we would appreciate if guests flush only toilet roll down the toilet. Sanitary products and ‘wet ones’ can be disposed of in the bags provided and placed in the bin provided.
We ask that guests don’t adjust the thermostats as they are set to provide comfort levels during different times of the day and night in an energy efficient way. Any changes could result in disrupted or no heating at all!
