When we booked the room we were unaware that the stairs were in a very poor condition and we considered them unsafe. We contacted the operators and told them we were cancelling. We were told that there was no cancelation protection and we would not get our money back. Is there something that can be done?

We did not stay the night at the property as the listing didn't mention the fact that we didn't have an ensuite and we would have had to go to a separate toilet and bathroom in the night and still remember the smart code for the door which was unacceptable for my wife who is almost 80. The host argued it was clear that the facilities were separate and if given a chance would have booked us into a flat with ensuite but this was too late as we already had left to find alterative accommodation across the road. Outside of the refund period so could not claim anything back and nothing was offered by the host.
