Region: Wiltshire is a county offering cultural richness, historical sites, friendly people and attractions for all the family. A holiday in Wiltshire really does have something to suit everyone at any time of year.

Town: The friendly, picturesque Wiltshire village of Aldbourne, is situated in a wonderful location within the North Wessex Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, on the borders with Berkshire. Aldbourne has a lively community spirit with lots going on at different times of the year, and features two excellent pubs next to a Grade I listed church serving good food and real ales while offering weekly live music of a high standard. The village has many thriving stores including a Post Office and has a heritage centre, blacksmiths and village run library. The village nestles beneath the scenic Aldbourne Downs, and is close to the attractive Wiltshire market town of Marlborough, and the Berkshire village of Lambourn, famous for its association with the training of racehorses and where more than 1500 horses train from over 50 racing yards on the nearby downland gallops. Aldbourne is a convenient place to relax for those exploring the nearby Ridgeway, thought to be Britain's oldest road, 85 miles of track which mostly follows the chalk downland of Southern England and has been in constant use for 4000 years. Now mainly used by walkers, cyclists and horse riders enjoying the scenic views and exploring the many ancient Stone Age and Bronze Age barrows, which can be found along the route. The nearby town of Marlborough is thought to have one of the widest high streets in the country, and is the setting for Marlborough College. There's a colourful weekly market here selling everything from clothing to fresh veg, and an interesting array of shops and restaurants. An easy drive takes you to the picturesque Kennet and Avon Canal, where at Pewsey or Devizes you can enjoy a leisurely boat trip, or how about a visit to the amazing ancient stone circles at Avebury or Stonehenge? Shopaholics are well catered for at the McArthurGlen shopping outlet in Swindon whilst the Museum of the Great Western Railway will keep the steam enthusiasts enthralled. Aldbourne serves as a most attractive Wiltshire village base from which to explore this most fascinating area of the country.
