About this property
Character cottage with garden - Central Buxton
Welcome to my traditional stone cottage with a garden on a quiet street, just a couple of minutes from Buxton town centre. The house blends period features with smart-home touches to make your stay easier, plus a log burner for cooler months. Opera House, the Crescent and the train station are within a 10-minute walk.
Four bedrooms; the two upper rooms have views across Buxton. Large kitchen-diner and lounge space; shops and restaurants nearby
The space The house blends traditional features with modern conveniences. Guests have keyless entry, motion-activated lighting outside and in, and smart-home functionality throughout. There is a cinematic OLED smart TV with Netflix and other streaming services, along with cinema sound in the breakfast room. A traditional log burner is available for use during cooler months, and heating is controlled via Hive.
The property has a tiered sunny garden to the rear and a landscaped side decked area. Accommodation is arranged over three floors, with views across the town and surrounding countryside, while remaining just a short walk to places to eat and shop. It works well for relaxing in the garden or spending time in the centre of Buxton.
The house is well located for Buxton’s arts, music and fringe festivals, which take place throughout the warmer months within walking distance. Pavilion Gardens, local parks and nearby walking routes provide easy access to green space and countryside. The garden areas offer a comfortable place to unwind outdoors after exploring the town.
There are four bedrooms with five beds. Superfast fibre broadband (450 Mbps) is available throughout the house and garden. Flat-screen TVs and Simba Pro mattresses are provided in each room. The house will be refreshly refurbished for 2026, and small welcome treats are included.
Buxton Opera House, Pavilion Gardens and the old town are all a short walk away, with events taking place throughout the year. The log burner provides additional warmth and atmosphere during the winter months. The house is located close to the centre of Buxton, overlooking Ashwood Park and near local amenities, with easy access to the Peak District.
Rear yard space is available for bike storage.
*Please note there are steep steps to the two upper loft bedrooms, which may not suit guests with mobility issues.
Free on-street parking is available outside the property; spaces are usually available, though locations may not be immediately obvious.
There are two living areas. When all four bedrooms are used, the lower room can be arranged as an additional sleeping space, leaving one main living area with seating for up to eight guests.
*The house dates back to 1905 and has solid walls. In winter months some condensation stainage on windows can occur, which is typical of older properties and managed through heating and ventilation.
Guest access Whole house is for guest use.
Private rear & side garden
Please be aware steep steps to the 2 top loft bedrooms.
On road Free parking, usually space for a few cars but do ask me on arrival where the spaces are not immediately obvious.
Access into town centre & old town in a few minutes walk and access to the peak district countryside a short cycle or drive away.
Some condensation occurs in winter months and can stain paint/window frames.
Other things to note The house is cleaned and prepared between guest stays, with fresh linen provided for each booking.
While this is a private home and not a hotel, guest rooms are cleared and set up for your stay, with storage space available in wardrobes and drawers. A small number of personal items may remain in the property, primarily those related to the character of the house.
If you have any questions during your stay, or if something is unclear, please feel free to message or call. I’m happy to help and aim to be responsive if anything needs attention.
