The historic harbour is flanked by two award-winning beaches with golden sand and a lot of activity. Artfully crafted promenades feature attractions ranging from amusement parks to secluded spots from which to people-watch. Whereas the current installment of Dad's Army was shot on the beach, Bridlington's shops, sights, restaurants, and historic "Old Town" provide a fascinating contrast, and the Bridlington Spa Theatre on the front offers nighttime entertainment. East Riding Leisure Centre is another option, and it features a swimming pool and many other indoor activities, perfect for families. Outside of the city, tourists can visit the quaint towns and scenic landscapes of the Yorkshire Wolds, as well as the nearby seaside towns of Filey, Scarborough, and Whitby, all of which are part of England's UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Bempton RSPB bird refuge, Sewerby Castle, Danes Dyke, and the cliffs and caves of Flamborough Head are just a few of the local attractions. A fantastic place for tourists and environment enthusiasts alike.
