We had a lovely stay in this house.
I'd read reviews that criticised the cleanliness of it, and I wonder why some people like to moan. (To get good cleaners in the Lake District is not the easiest thing.)
We liked the house and garden. It was good that the owner had left everything we might need, washing up liquid, paper towels, numerous toilet rolls (of good quality), as well as cooking equipment etc.
My son and I had fun lighting the log burner stove with the wood provided.
The house is close enough to Keswick and Penrith. We thoroughly enjoyed out stay. Thank you.
Cosy winter stay but several housekeeping issues and care needed. Plug in heaters as central heating needed a roaring fire to fuel it but we could not get it going to have any effect and they were stone cold. Curtain in bedroom came off rails as nothing to stop this . Downstairs tie backs one missing and one hanging off . Mugs chipped . When stripped bed the duvet was stained and mattress old and uncomfortable . Bath mat stained . cafetière small and wouldn’t be enough for 4. Cooker hood greasy and no light. We have stayed at lots of cottages and this was the worst for the things that make a stay special . We did enjoy our week of walking and the views from the cottage are lovely . We appreciate it is very old cottage but that does not account for the shabbiness . We stayed in the summer at number 5 which was higher quality . It could be lovely just needs some updating . We don’t often complain but think these issues need addressing.
