Coco Cottage at Poipu Beach is a classic, sugar plantation-style home located on the sunny south shore of Kauai. Completely rebuilt, it offers beautiful furnishings, a fully equipped kitchen, full-size washer and dryer, two air-conditioned bedrooms, each with a king-size bed, two bathrooms, and a huge, breezy lanai - offering island living at its best. Located in the heart of Poipu, Coco Cottage is just a 30-second walk to the ocean at the end of the street where you will find Brennecke's Beach and Poipu Beach Park for some of the best swimming, sunning, snorkeling and surfing on Kauai. One of the Best

We have rented vacation homes all over the world and this was one of the best. It’s located in a touristy area, but is tucked away and private. Everything was extremely clean and well-appointed. Just up the street from Brenneke’s beach where dozens of sea turtles swam in every night to rest.

I stayed here with my family for my brother’s wedding and we had an absolutely wonderful time. This house is stunning and has such a welcoming feeling. The house was clean and stocked with everything we needed. The hosts were very responsive and so welcoming as well. We would love to stay here again!

The Perfect Stay

Just imagine a rainy afternoon on Kauai, sitting on a lanai overlooking a lush, green and orchid filled backyard, reading your book. When the rain stops you walk a block to the beach and see the sunset over the turtles. Fresh Mahi Mahi and a Mai tai at Brennecke’s, and settle into your comfortable bed with en-suite baths Perfect stay.

As you swing the charming front gate open be prepared to fall in love with this sweet little cottage. We loved Joan and Rick’s charming home! It was cozy and well appointed. The backyard porch was so peaceful and beautiful! We would highly recommend this home and location. Wish we could have stayed longer!!

Charming and well-equipped cottage very convenient to Poipu Beach Park.

This is a gem of a property! Spacious, bright, airy, great common areas, incredibly well-equipped kitchen. Layout worked well for our family of two couples. Communication with the owners was excellent. Two fabulous beaches, and lounging sea turtles, are an easy walk away; glorious sunsets a block down the road. I recommend it enthusiastically!

Great place and location

We really enjoyed our stay at Joan and Rick’s beautiful place. The house is as advertised - clean, comfortable and well stocked. We especially loved the location. It’s close to all the restaurants and beach that showcases some of the best sunsets and sea turtles.

Perfect stay in Poipu

Coco Cottage is an upscale property in Poipu and we highly recommend. Ate dinner every night on the lanai with Hawaiian music playing. Also, it is located next to the best beaches which we throughly enjoyed.

Perfect Paradise in Poipu

Cuteness is the Coco Cottage.

Location to Brenecke and Poipu Beach is a walkable plus. The Cottage is very clean and charming. The yard is very well kept and beautiful. The lanai is so inviting. Meals taken out there and coffee in the morning just added to the island magic.

Fantastic Hawaiian Cottage

Coco Cottage was exactly as described and everything we expected. The cottage is clean, thoughtfully furnished, and well maintained. The location is superb; it’s a short walk to fantastic beaches. The highlight of our South Shore vacation was boogie-boarding at Brennecke’s Beach, snorkeling, and seeing the turtles and seals resting on the shore of Poʻipū Beach.

Coco Cottage is Fantastic!!!

We had a fantastic stay at the Coco Cottage! Location is great. So close to Poipu Beach. Walk to the end of the block and watch the sunset. House had everything we needed. Couldn't have asked for a better place to stay. Will definitely come back!

Beautiful location

We had an amazing stay at the cottage. The yard is beautiful and the location is amazing. The inside of the cottage is very cute and has absolutely everything you need to cook or prepare for a day spent on the beach. Poipu beach was by far my favorite beach on all of Kauai. The property is only a 5 minute walk to the beach park where the sea turtles hang out and there is great snorkeling. I would love to stay again in the future.

We've lived on Kauai for over 40 years, and our grandchildren represent the 5th generation raised on the island. Rick's grandparents came to Kauai in the early 1920's; his grandfather was a civil engineer in the sugar plantation industry. We've traveled the world, but can't imagine living anywhere else. Until recently, Rick was a part-owner of Coldwell Banker Makai Properties, a local real estate company, which he sold to Coldwell Banker Island Properties from Maui. Rick is now a broker with CBIP and Joan recently retired after a long career in education.

Why they chose this property

Some of Rick's fondest memories include learning to swim, body surf, and surf at Brennecke Beach and Poipu Beach. We have classic photos of his mother swimming there in the early 1930's. Our own daughters spent their childhoods on these shores. We were thrilled to find this little house for sale in 2016, as we could see the potential for a perfect vacation home. We spent most of 2017 renovating it, and adding all the special touches we would want in our own home.

The minute you kick off your shoes and enter Coco Cottage, you will feel yourself unwind and relax. With the French Doors open to the trade winds, ceiling fans gently turning, birds chirping outside, and the beach just steps away - you'll be in instant vacation mode. The kitchen offers everything you'll need to make a casual snack or turn out a gourmet meal. The king-size beds are of high quality and comfy, and plantation shutters ensure a good night's sleep. Both bedrooms have air conditioning units, giving you the option of a cool retreat on warm nights. The bathrooms are spacious and inviting, and the closets provide plenty of room for your belongings (bathing suit and shorts!). You can enjoy breakfast on the lanai, a run along the coastline, or a sunset picnic at the beach pavilion. We invite you to come, stay, and build special memories of your stay on Kauai.
