About this property
Private Muskoka cottage on 5 acres with 300 ft of waterfront
Oaken point cottage is located on the north shore of 3 Mile Lake in the heart of the Muskokas. Nestled on five acres, the cottage features an open concept kitchen, living room, Starlink internet, bathroom, 3 bedrooms and a Muskoka room. Both the living room and Muskoka room open onto a large deck with picnic table and BBQ. This is a wonderful place to relax and enjoy an early morning coffee or a family meal at the end of a busy day. A separate bunkie can accommodate visiting family or friends. With 300 ft of private waterfront to enjoy, it is a welcome retreat from life in the city.
The property boasts a large, gently sloping lawn that is perfect for children to play on. It would also be the ideal place to challenge family members and friends to a friendly game of volleyball, badminton or croquet. At the end of the lawn are two mulch pathways. One pathway leads to a small inlet that’s perfect for fishing while the other pathway leads to the fire pit and gorgeous rocky point with dock.
If you would like to bring your own boat, there’s room on the dock. The boat launch is located at Inverness Tent and Trailer park, 1.5 km down the road for a minimal fee. Windermere (5 km) has a boat launch and boat rentals, if you would like to spend the day exploring Lake Rousseau.
Swimming, fishing, hiking and biking are just some of the activities you can enjoy while taking a break from city life. Relaxing by the water reading a book, sunbathing on the dock or an early morning yoga session are also great ways to spend an hour or the whole day. Exploring the lake by kayak or boat will offer hours of family fun. At night, roast marshmallows, sing songs, tell stories and watch fireworks from the lakeside fire pit - wood provided.
For the golf enthusiasts in the family, Windermere Golf and Country Club is merely minutes away. Alternatively, Diamond in the ruff golf course is a short 10-15 min drive down the road.
Shopping can be found in the quaint and picturesque towns of Port Carling, Huntsville, Bracebridge and Lake Rousseau. All towns listed are within a 30 minute radius of the cottage, with Port Carling being the closest.

We had two families with three kids between 6 & 9. The kids had a blast as well as the adults. Nice and clean and beautiful water for swimming and fishing.
Beautiful piece of property to be on. Bedrooms were spacious, kitchen was well equipped and living room area was very comfortable. Jeanine was wonderful to work with, receiving us at the property and showing us around. I would definitely return next year!
Beautiful setting, very quiet, restful cottage. Kitchen was well-equipped, lots of comfortable sofas and chairs, and the Muskoka room a nice retreat. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay (our third time).
The cottage was very nice and well stocked with everything you could need. For outdoor fun there were the 2 paddle boards, 2 kayaks and a canoe. Our adult children and niece and nephew throughly enjoyed using them on the lake.Jeanine our host met us at check in and took us around the property so we were familiar with it.It was a very nice week away and would do it again.
Lovely, quiet location, beautiful lake, gorgeous views! The cottage was cozy and clean and provided everything we needed for our stay. We would definitely go back!!
We had a wonderful time away for lots of family fun! The yard was perfect for outdoor games…lots of room on the deck for meals and the kitchen was well equipped with dishes and all cooking needs.
Lots of time was spent at the lovely dock and water.
We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Great location and cottage. We pretty much had everything we needed. The only recommendations would be that the path to get to dock should be gravel, very mucky to get to the dock. Remote for dvd player should be updated for movies. Hosts were very responsive and helpful.

Thank-you for your review. We appreciate all feedback, as we are continually trying to improve our guest experience.
We’re glad to know you enjoyed your stay overall.
We apologize for any inconvenience the DVD remote and pathway caused during your stay. Both the television and remote for the DVD player have been updated since your stay with us. As for the pathway, we are currently exploring solutions. We hope you will consider staying with us in the future.
Sincerely,
Mark and Jeanine
We loved that we could relax in seclusion away from the lake when we wanted some downtime and that there were spaces within the cottage where you could get some solo time. Plenty of opportunities to hang with the whole family and enjoy the area too! Thanks, Jeanine!
A very nice week. Cottage is very quiet on a large property, that creates privacy. The huge deck is perfect for meals, reading, etc., and the dock gets sun all day. The kitchen is well equipped and the bbq looks new. A few more chairs on the deck and in the dock area would help. All-in-all it was very much as advertised.
Our stay at this cottage was the perfect peaceful escape, offering a relaxing retreat in a beautiful setting. The cottage itself is cozy and well-equipped, with everything you need in the kitchen for easy meal prep. The spacious deck was a highlight, providing ample space for lounging, dining, and playing games.
We especially loved the two large fire pits, with the one by the lake quickly becoming our favorite spot for evening gatherings. The dock on the water was generously sized, comfortably fitting all six of us whether we were lounging in chairs or relaxing on towels. However, the walk to the lake was a bit longer than we expected from the photos, so I’d recommend bringing a wagon if you plan to spend the day on the dock to avoid multiple trips back to the cottage.
While the cottage doesn’t have air conditioning, it stayed pleasantly cool, especially at night when we opened the windows and ran the fans. Although the tap water is safe to drink, it does have a noticeable sulfur odor, so bringing your own drinking water is a good idea.
One thing to note is that internet and cell service inside the cottage are nearly nonexistent, and even on the deck and dock, the signal was quite spotty. This could be a challenge if you need to work remotely.
Overall, this cottage is a wonderful place to unwind. Jeanine was a fantastic host, greeting us with a warm welcome and a tour of the cottage and grounds on our first day, making us feel right at home.
Beautiful property and delightful cottage.
Owners made check in a breeze and made us feel right at home.
Only downside to the stay was the lake - blue/green alge had been confirmed. We rented a property on the lake so we could enjoy time in the water without having to travel. Unfortunately, this wasnt disclosed to us and, we werent able to enjoy the lake as we'd hoped. We ended up having to go to nearby towns/beaches to enjoy our time. Had we known, we would not had rented this property as the water access/use was a major factor for renting this unit
The dock was beautiful and, we enjoyed the views along with lakeside fires. Kids thought the deer coming through the yard while we relaxed on the deck was amazing! They also loved having their own space in the bunkie.
Very peaceful cottage. We enjoyed seeing all the different wildlife that ventured through the property. The cottage had everything you'd need for a peaceful stay.
The owners were very upfront with the poor internet connection, this for us was perfect! Definitely wonderful to unplug from everything. By the dock the internet was strong, so if you wanted to access something online that's a great spot.
Overall we had a great time! Lots of fun and many memories:)
The cottage was nicely stocked with dishes and pots n pans. Made it easy to cook during our stay for our family. It was clean and fit our family if 7 perfectly. We enjoyed the Lady Rosseau cruise while we there in Port Carling.
This is a clean, well-kept cottage in a great location. Nice swimming and wonderful views. Cottage is well maintained. Deck is massive. Access to the water is through a great little walk through the forest (220 steps from the cottage). Great fire pit overlooking the lake view. Top notch all around.
Really enjoyed the dock area, firepit and kayaks! Nice and quiet, no loud partiers around. For a relaxing, quiet holiday it's a great choice! And the hosts were wonderful to deal with.
This is our second stay in this lovely cottage. Very roomy and comfortable. Kitchen is very well equipped. The setting is beautiful, with a large lawn bordered by dense forest. The bedrooms are a good size and there is a very pretty Muskoka room at one end. We especially enjoyed shopping at the Taylor Berry Farm at the corner of North Shore Road and Dee Bank, which stocks groceries as well as fruit and veg. Vacationers who want a traditional Muskoka cottage experience will enjoy staying.
The property is exactly as pictured/described -- the cottage is well-appointed, comfortable and has everything you need, and the waterfront and wooded areas are beautiful and teeming with wildlife: we saw a pair of deer, a groundhog, chipmunks, red squirrels, monarch butterflies, hummingbirds, ducks, a woodpecker, a loon and a hero. Fantastic Muskoka experience and a really convenient location on a lovely lake. Thank you Jeanine & Mark, it was exactly the perfect, restful vacation we were hoping for.
My family and I loved our time at the lake. We spent all day everyday on the dock. The kids loved going in the kayaks and canoe. The campfire was so nice by the water.
We would love to come again!
Cottage was clean and good size. Deck and dock are fabulous. Property is a bit back from shoreline however this also gives you great privacy. Would definitely recommend for a family vacation.
We had such a great time at this cottage! There were 10 of us in our group, including 3 teenagers, and there was lots of space for everyone to be comfortable. Everything in and around the cottage was just as described in the ad. The dock was an awesome place to hang out and enjoy the sun all day & swim; the lake was a perfect size to explore with the kayaks & canoe. The deck was another great space to relax, play games, and eat meals together. The kitchen was well stocked with enough dishes, pots & pans, & spices etc...and the bbq worked really well and had lots of propane. There was plenty of firewood stocked for the fire pits too. The water pressure in the shower was great; we never ran out of hot water with 10 people showering. The beds were comfortable and the teens enjoyed their own space in the bunkie. Definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a fun & relaxing cottage holiday on the lake!
We had a delightful week. The property lived up to the photos and written description. The lake was gorgeous with good swimming off of a large, new wharf. As with most Muskoka lakes, the water is deep at the waters edge so non-swimmers will need lifejackets to enjoy the water. Two kayaks and a canoe added to our fun. There are a couple of fire pits on the large property with stacks of dried wood everywhere. We thoroughly enjoyed our fires on the waterfront. The cottage is spacious with 3 good size bedrooms and a very well equipped kitchen. The spice cabinet is impressive and the hosts supplied Muskoka Lakes coffee. There were many DVDs for rainy days. Our teenagers slept in the “bunkie” which is a tiny cabin with bunk beds, one of which is a double. The wifi was spotty, a frequent issue with rural internet. The hosts are attempting to address the issue.
