On a large, protected plot of land in the coastal town of Blåvand lies Karetmagerens Gård - the perfect setting for a large family or 2-3 smaller families who want to experience a bygone era together. Here you can take a step back from everyday life and live the primitive and simple life for a while in authentic and scenic surroundings.
The farm is listed but renovated in the original style from the 1930s, so all original details inside and out have been beautifully preserved. It exudes historic charm everywhere, and with no electricity, it brings out a sense of presence. Light the candles, fire up the stove and slow down together.
Behind the farm, you have free access to the undisturbed nature of West Jutland. Explore the trees, cook together in the outdoor kitchen or take a hot shower under the solar-heated outdoor shower and feel the calmness sink into your body. If it gets too chilly in the evening, you can pull the long table into the barn and let the chatter flow until dusk with a view of the almost hundred-year-old rafters.
You can also visit the architectural bunker museum Tirpitz, go to the beach and jump in the waves at the North Sea or take an excursion to Denmark's westernmost point, Blåvandshuk Lighthouse, and enjoy the view over the dunes.
(The farm consists of three separate sections, two with their own kitchen. There is a bathroom with toilet and cold water shower and a lovely outdoor bath with solar-heated water. Solar panels charge the essentials in the barn and bed linen and towels can be booked by arrangement).
