A sparkling retreat which offers something for everyone, Pech Marty will delight all who stay there. Set in spacious grounds with views over the surrounding countryside towards the 'bastide' town of Monflanquin, this lovely stone building has been sympathetically restored to become a most relaxing and comfortable 'home from home'. As you arrive, you are greeted with a profusion of colour and greenery from the wonderful variety of trees, plants, flowers and orchard that fill the grounds, which have been thoughtfully designed to accommodate everyone's needs.
Families with small children will appreciate the enclosed garden (with terrace and pergola) at the front of the house, early risers will enjoy breakfast on the rear terrace whilst those seeking some peace and quiet can relax in the coppice of trees at the far end. And, of course, the essential private swimming pool has not been forgotten: gated and enclosed, it is positioned to capture the panoramic views that surround the property.
Decorated with flair and imagination, the interior combines restful cosiness with real charm. Looking out over the enclosed garden, the open plan dining room/kitchen is equipped for all self catering needs. An antique door opens into the comfortably furnished living room, where colourful paintings and artefacts decorate the walls. Three pretty bedrooms and two bathrooms complete the picture.
The nearby hamlet, Montagnac-sur-Lède, has a local café bar. Monflanquin (7km) offers all amenities from a large supermarket, bakeries and shops to a range of restaurants and bars. Standing like a beacon on a hilltop, it is well worth a visit as it is accepted as being one of the best examples of 'bastide' town layout, conforming as it does to the plan of a main square from which streets run at right angles.
The other prerequisite of a 'bastide' is that a market takes place, and this still does, on a Thursday, in the Place des Arcades. Head up to the square beyond the church and you will be rewarded with magnificent views to the north over crops of immaculately ordered vines, cereals and, in season, a dazzling yellow uproar of sunflower fields.
* The pool can be heated (payable locally) - please request in advance. * Air conditioning is available for a supplement, payable direct to the owner on arrival. There is an unfenced lake in the grounds (see Accommodation details). Younger children may require supervision. 2026: The week of 26th September can be extended to a two week duration. Please enquire with the reservations team. Please note: A local tourist tax of £1.11 per person per night is payable for each party member aged 18 or over. We will add this amount to your booking.
