This pretty 3 bedroom house nestles in rolling countryside, a gentle ride from the magnificent Dordogne river and a short walk from the hill top village of Castillionnes, with its restaurants, bars, and bustling weekly market.
Easy to find, only 20 minutes from Bergerac airport and 90 minutes from Bordeaux, it’s a cosy home from home offering a peaceful holiday with a private pool, a terrace surrounded by lavender and lovely views. The perfect place to unwind with a glass of chilled rose after a day kayaking on the river, horse-riding, or even donkey trekking!
Should you manage to tear yourself away from the view, the pool, and that glass of wine, we have lots to occupy the whole family, tennis courts and a large public swimming pool a short walk away, a great sandy beach at Lougratte lake just 15 minutes drive away. The wonderfully preserved medieval villages of Issigeac, Eymet and Villereal are equally near-by and the gorgeous hilltop Bastide villages of Monpazier and Monflanquin, both with 30 minutes drive.

The Cottage: With all modern facilities, sleeps 6, it has 3 comfortable bedrooms, 1 double with an ensuite and 2 twin rooms (we are happy to change the double to a twin or a twin to a double upon request) a good sized family bathroom, an open plan living area with comfy sofas, tv and dvd player, a fully equipped kitchen including a large fridge freezer for all those cold drinks and tasty snacks, a gas cooker, a dishwasher (tablets provided), toaster, microwave, coffee machine.

For lovely lazy outdoor eating, we provide a BBQ, The terrace is well equipped with tables and chairs for alfresco dining or you can lounge in comfort under the trees on our outdoor sofa and chairs.

For comfort and safety the pool has an easy to use cover for extra heat on a cloudy day and is securely fenced with a lockable gate, peace of mind if you have adventurous children.

We like to provide you with extras so you dont need to worry about the little things, eg dishwasher tablets, toliet rolls, handwash, we love the gite as if it was a home not just a place for you to stay and sleep, we want you to relax and just unwind from the stress of your normal home life.
children or any age will enjoy staying, there is a tennis table, dvd's and free wifi !!!!!!!!!!!!!
but best of all a private pool, suitable for young and older children and adults, to play relax, it as a cover to keep the sun off in the heat of the day, and can be closed to protect from the rain if it come when you stay!!!! (fingers crossed it stays away)
its near to the local airport of Bergerac, 25 mins approx,
there is a number of markets to visit, and wine caves to visit when you need to pull yourself away from the pool !!!!

Lovely place to stay and explore the local area (you will need a car). Very easy check in, clean place, comfortable beds, spacious lounge, very thoughtful owner with great communication, pool was a godsend in the blazing heat and great protection for the kids with it being covered, nice big garden and everything you need! It's a very peaceful and quiet in the area. The only advice is to bring lots of DEET in summer, the mosquitoes like the taste of English blood, they're vicious!!

This is a very clean and comfortable house with everything you need to enjoy your holiday. The hosts have gone above and beyond to make your stay as easy as possible, providing everyday consumables and a generous and terrific welcome pack. We prepared all of our meals, ate most of them outside, weather permitting. The garden and pool are delightful although the water a little cool. The location is excellent for exploring on foot, by bike or driving, with some wonderful bastide towns within half an hour’s drive. Thank you Charmaine and Sam

A lovely house in a beautiful area

The property was perfect, clean and enough space for the family to enjoy. With its own pool it's exactly as described. Charmaine, Sam and family were very welcoming and available should there be a problem, not that there were!

Lovely property in rural France

This is a lovely property of good size which is perfect for a family. There is a swimming pool which is partially covered so good on very hot days as offers some protection from the sun. The local village is nearby as well as big supermarket. Our host was very helpful and the check in process was very easy.

Nice vacation in Castillonnès

We had a wonderful vacation in Castillonnès, great house where everything was present. Contact with owner was fine via app and every morning the pool was neatly cleaned. Interior of vacation home does need an update. Garden was beautiful and completely fenced which was very nice for our dachshund.😉

Holiday in france

We really enjoyed our stay. Charmaine was very nice and nothing was to much trouble for her. The gite was clean and well maintained it suited us perfectly for accommodation and closeness to family. There was plenty for everyone to do.It made for a lovely first holiday to France. No we did not find the sunglasses.

A relaxing break in a well equipped gite

This is a lovely gite for a family holiday. There is plenty of space inside and out. We enjoyed the good sized pool, playing table tennis and eating bbq dinners on the patio. There is lots to do nearby with a swimming lake, cycle routes, kayaking and chateau Bridoire (never thought I would hear the children ask to go to another chateau!) Charmaine's communication and welcome make the whole stay easy - just what a family holiday should be. Thank you

We've known sam and charmaine for a good many years and been threatening them with a visit for nearly as long,this year we kept our promise and had such a wonderfully relaxing holiday .the gite was lovely with good sized rooms well equipped a smashing warm pool that my 11 yr old would not get out of. Charmaine made sure we had everything we could need including the welcome hamper that was very much appreciated. We loved our stay so much weve booked for next yr 10/10.thankyou see you all soon

Beautiful property

Loved our stay at property. Hosts were lovely and communication great for any issues. Property was as decribed cosy, clean and set up perfectly. Hosts even provided us with a welcome package on arrival of food and wine!!! Loved every minute of our stay and the private pool was so relaxing and well maintained. Highly recommend booking this property for your stay in france. Requires a car hire as a note to get around rest of france if you so wish but there are small towns close by like bergerac and castiollnes which are lovely. All in all fantastic stay and really was a home from home. Thankyou charmaine for such a welcoming and great property!!!!

Family Break

What a great find!! If you’ve got kids & want to come away to a property where they won’t get bored, this is for you! We’ve stayed in lots of French gites but this one has been the best in terms of the attention to detail, what’s included & as other people have mentioned, the amazing welcome hamper! Sam & Charmaine are lovely people who clearly work hard to make your holiday enjoyable - they were always available for advice on where to eat, which markets where good, the best local swimming spots. Would recommend this place without hesitation if you’re travelling with your little ones!

Wonderful holiday retreat for kids

What a little gem on a holiday gite and the owners couldn't have been nicer or more helpful. With two young kids in tow it is not always easy to keep them entertained, but with a trampoline, swings, outdoor den and everything you could possibly need for kids provided for you in the gite, it made life so much easier. A huge thank you to Charmaine for making our stay so amazing!! We did a different excursion every day, having to travel up to a max of an hour to find some great experiences for young and old. Would recommend to anyone - adults if you wish to get away from it all and enjoy the local vino and chill out time - and especially if you have children. Couldn't ask for more!!

Great experience and the best hosts

Charmaine and Sam are the best. They are there but they are not there, if you know what i mean. The house is very pretty and complete and we had a blast staying in the house. We were with 4 adults and a 1.5yo baby and the fence around the pool is Just the best. We Could sit on the terrace and our Son Could walk around and play in the garden without being at risk. We had a great time and will be coming back for sure! Thanks Charmaine and Sam!

Such a wonderful place!

This is our second visit to this gîte in Cahuzac and we have had a wonderful holiday. We have never gone back to the same place twice so it’s very telling that we returned here! The gîte is cosy and comfortable and exceptionally well-equipped. The new playhouse is a wonderful addition and the kids have been spoilt for choice about how to spend their time. The pool is fab, the challenge is getting the kids out of the pool at the end of the day! We have eaten every meal outside on the covered terrace which provides welcome shade. Charmaine and Sam are wonderful hosts and I can’t recommend the place enough - go on, book now!!

Best holiday ever

Everything was just amazing!! Charmaine and sam was always on hand if there was anything you needed to know.The gite was just as you would want it to be,infact it was better!!!!! Charmaine has thought of everything you need home from home.sam would come round early some mornings to clean the pool,we enjoyed our chats with him.The pool and gardens were the icing on the cake,we spent alot of days just round the pool,heaven!! The pretty town of castillonnes was a 10 minute walk,with afew bars and restaurants and twice weekly markets.The town of Bergerac was a 20 minute car journey and was just so beautiful, we went there a few times.We loved every minute of our holiday,thankyou Charmaine and sam.

A perfect gite for a young family

We spent a week in this lovely gite with our 2 children (5 and 7). Charmaine met us on arrival where we received an amazing welcome hamper which was much appreciated by all! The gite was extremely well equipped with everything we needed. Outside there is plenty to keep the kids entertained - swimming pool, table tennis, trampoline, swings and even a den full of toys. We enjoyed evenings tasting local wines and bbqing on the terrace - surrounded by lavender and the sounds of crickets it was very relaxing. We hired a car (which I'd recommend due to the out of town location) and we were in a great position to visit lots of local towns. We also hired bikes but be warned it is quite hilly nearby! It was a relaxing week and we all thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Charmaine is a fantastic host and goes out of her way to make sure everyone is happy - all the little details really make a difference. Holiday 2013

Our first impression of the Gite was the warm greeting we received from Charmaine who was waiting for us on arrival to show us around. The property is in a beautiful peaceful setting, we were hardly aware we even had neighbours and loved the horses in the next field. Comfortable furnished and immaculately clean the Gite is great for families or groups alike. The kitchen was well equipped complete even with baking utensils in case we needed cake! The terrace is lovely making solitary relaxation a compulsion and social entertaining a breeze. The pool was delightful at all times of day and night and was maintained during our stay. There are plenty of sun loungers great for a tan or indeed stargazing at night. With lots of local and tourist information to hand we couldn't fit everything in and will be back to see more soon. There were numerous little touches to make us feel at home and our holiday run smoothly, and it was great to have a dishwasher and washing machine on hand as well. Many thanks Sam and Charmaine and we hope to see you again soon

Fantastic Gite

From the moment we enquired about the gite we experienced excellent service from Charmaine and her family. The gite is in a good location and had a lovely view. The gite is equipped to the highest level, Charmaine ensures that you have everything to hand to be able to get straight on with your holiday. We were greated by Charmaine who showed us round and she had left us a lovely hamper full of lots of goodies. Added to that she really thinks of everything and supplies all the practical little bits and bobs you need as well. The gite was lovely and clean and the beds spotlessly clean and made up for our arrival. She also supplied lots of lovely fluffy towels and even some for the pool. The garden was lovely and you can sit and dine outside surrounded by beautiful lavender. There is lots to do in the garden, the pool is a good size and was nice and clean and warm. Added to that there was swings and a trampoline and a table tennis table. We had a lovely holiday and would highly recommend it. Thank you Charmaine and co for letting us stay in your lovely gite ... A real home from home ... Lots warmer than ours tthough with a fab pool x

A wonderful place to stay

We have stayed in many holiday properties over the years, both in France and in the UK but I have to say, this place beats them all. Charmaine couldn't have been more helpful, emailing several times before our holiday to check on our specific requirements, and during our holiday just to make sure everything was okay and we weren't in need of anything. The house itself is wonderful. We arrived to a beautiful hamper of goodies and a fridge of cold beers, just what we needed after a long journey! Charmaine and Sam have literally thought of everything, from the children's toys and books available, to a basket of toiletries in each room and info about what to see and do. The house is amazingly well equipped, I didn't need to bring half of what I brought - you'll find salt, pepper, dishwasher tablets, washing powder, tea, coffee, linen, towels, washing up liquid, soap, sponges, rubber gloves, picnic plates, napkins and even skewers for the bbq! The house is very comfortable but it's the outside which really sells this place. The covered terrace is a wonderful place to sit all day, looking up to the bastide town of Castillonès, from breakfast from the local boulangerie to your evening bbq. The pool is fabulous and the cover keeps it nice and warm and keeps the sun off when you're swimming. The garden is beautiful, packed with lavender bushes and honeysuckle whose scents waft to you as you sit and enjoy a glass of wine on the terrace. The trampoline and swings also went down very well with our little boy. I honestly don't think we've stayed in a better place and, believe me, we are very fussy! It truly is a home from home and you really feel looked after by Charmaine and Sam. We can't recommend it highly enough!

Beautiful roomy gite with a private garden and lovely pool.

We loved our stay here. The weather was pretty hot (late August) but the garden and outside dining area offers lots of shade and the pool temperature was perfect. The pool is partially covered which was a godsend, no need to smother the kids in suncream constantly. The gite itself was very well equipped with all you could need, especially the kitchen. From toilet paper and household bits to candles, plasters, DVDs and extension leads. We couldn't ask for better hosts, who went out of their way to ensure a comfortable stay, even providing a lilo for the kids not 12 hours after us mentioning we couldn't find any locally! Wifi was great so both kids were happy when not in the pool or playing table tennis. Highly recommend, especially for a family.

Maison parfaite pour un séjour en famille

bon séjour

Nous avons passé un agréable séjour où nous avons apprécié la propreté des lieux et une bonne communication avec la propriétaire. La maison est au calme et agréable malgré le fait qu'elle sente l'humidité dans certaines pièces. Le trampoline et la balançoire ont été apprécié par les enfants mais se dégradent, c'est dommage. En globalité c'est une maison agréable où tous les équipements sont adaptés pour une famille avec bébé, c'est super. L'emplacement est très au calme et apprécié également. Propriétaires très aimables.

Why they chose this property

we like to provide you with extras so you dont need to worry about the little things, eg dishwasher tablets, washing powder, we love the gite as if it was a home not just a place for you to stay and sleep, we want you to relax and just unwind from the stress of your normal home life.
children or any age will enjoy staying, there is a trampoline, tennis table, dvd's and free wifi !!!!!!!!!!!!!
but best of all a private pool, suitable for young and older children and adults, to play relax, it as a cover to keep the sun off in the heat of the day, and can be closed to protect from the rain if it come when you stay!!!! (fingers crossed it stays away)
its near to the local airport of Bergerac, 25 mins approx,
there is a number of markets to visit, and wine caves to visit when you need to pull yourself away from the pool !!!!

all in all a great place to stay
