Oak Islands. Donovan's Reef

Beautifully remodeled house located just a few short steps away from beach access. You can hear the Ocean from this house. Gorgeous ocean views from the front deck. Spacious back yard. House has HDTV, WiFi Internet, Washer and Dryer and full kitchen.

Ocean crest pier is a short walk away. Fine dining at the Island Way restaurant is also a short walk away.

Oak Island is a beach town in North Carolina. It’s separated from the mainland by the Intracoastal Waterway. The Atlantic coast is lined with beaches, and fishermen gather at the long Ocean Crest Pier. The Oak Island Nature Center has trails, plus displays on fossils and native animals. To the east, Oak Island Lighthouse has sweeping views over Caswell Beach and Bald Head Island.

The Town also has a municipal golf course and eight parks, ranging from a fishing T at the west end of the island to a large park on the mainland complete with baseball and football fields. There is a skate park, a dog park, a cabana on the oceanfront with an observation deck and plenty of places to find a quiet spot to relax and enjoy the view. Area businesses, like piers and marinas, restaurants and ice cream shops, also help make vacationers feel welcome while catering to full-time residents. The house itself is cute and the location is excellent. However, the linens for both bedrooms were very smelly. This includes the comforter and pillows. They had a smell of being left in the dryer not completely dried. Fortunately, we brought our own linens and towels. As stated in the instructions we were to take the sheets off the bed and put them in the washer. We did not do this since we did not use the supplied sheets. Another thing we noticed was not enough lighting in the living room/dining area. It would get really dark at the dining table. As I stated before this is a cute house and the location is excellent, if the lighting and the housekeeping could be improved, we would rent it again.

Nice place for family vacation

Dreamy Beach Getaway!We absolutely loved our stay at this adorable beach bungalow! Waking up to the sound of the waves and having coffee just steps from the sand was pure magic. The decor was charming and beachy without feeling overdone, and the little touches (like beach chairs and games) made it feel like home. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a peaceful beach escape!

I don't know if the house keeper was having an off day but now that I have looked back through the reviews, this doesn't seem to be a one off. Also, I did not plan on leaving a negative review until I got a shocking response from the host. The house was not sanitized or clean. My family and I did not feel comfortable walking around the house in bare feet, or sitting on the couch or chair as the coverings all smelled bad. When we stripped the sheets, the mattress covers had hairs and stains. Stains in the carpet. The living room rug smelled like urine. The shower curtains were obviously not sanitized and I think maybe the showers just got a light rinse. I went and purchased cleaners and laundered the couch and chair coverings and some of the blankets and towels. I sanitized the showers and bathrooms, the floors.When I heard back from the host she implied that the rental must have been in an unsanitary state simply because "we must have left it that way."Speechless.I can understand host's do get burned by renters from time to time, but to accuse someone for the state in which your rental was left? It is the worst to arrive on vacation and not want to relax in your rental because it is unclean. She never apologized or displayed good customer service or wanted to make it right. In fact the opposite. Even when I was really nice. Obviously she just wanted the money, uncontested. No matter her rentals condition.

Fun family trip to the beach

This was a Juneteenth/First Father's Day trip for me and my family. We had a great time and the public beach access was the perfect distance. Very relaxing on a family oriented beach.

Place was great, but communication with owners was a bit rough. Did not send instructions at required 24 hr mark and then was unreachable up until a few hours before check in. Never responded to any messages, had to be called by VRBO. Which was unfortunate cause i really liked the location

A little slice of Heaven

This is the cutest beach house we’ve stayed in by far. It’s very spacious and comfortable. The location is unbeatable, directly across from beach access. The host was also incredibly responsive and helpful, making the entire experience smooth and enjoyable. We can't wait to come back!

PERFECT view of the ocean

We stayed here for a week and we really enjoyed it. Great little house with front porch and the view of the ocean from the porch was awesome! Just so relaxing sitting out there enjoying the breeze and the beautiful view. Definitely would stay again!!!

Easy Beach Stay

Nicely decorated and well equipped cottage. Enjoyed lounging on the covered porch. The beach was just steps away and was easy to access at all times of day and tides.

Retirement Celebration

We enjoyed our stay at Donovan's Reef and can't wait to return! We enjoyed sitting on the porch and watching the boats on the ocean and listening to the waves! Public access to the beach was right at the home which was wonderful! We loved being able to bring our pup with us! Looking forward to another trip!

Awesome beach view getaway!

We loved our stay here back in October! Beautiful view of the ocean, clean surroundings, amazing host! Only thing that could have been better was maybe the beds could have been a little softer :) Otherwise, perfect! You won’t regret staying here!!
