About this property
2 Bed in Betws Garmon (oc-b45268)
This characterful holiday home is in the quaint Welsh village of Betws Garmon, on the north-western edge of Eryri National Park (Snowdonia). The two-bedroom cottage welcomes four guests, making it the ideal couples’ retreat or base for a small family looking to explore all that North Wales has to offer. The historic town of Caernarfon, famous for its magnificent 13th-century castle, is 5 miles away. Wander along its narrow streets, where you’ll find a good range of independent shops, or head down to the redeveloped waterfront to dine in one of the many cafes or restaurants. Alternatively, head to the north coast to explore Bangor (13 miles), the oldest city in Wales, or get away from it all at the beautiful sandy beach at Dinas Dinlle (10 miles). Other days out include the Llyn Peninsula, the Isle of Anglesey, and the Italian-inspired village of Portmeirion (all within 20 miles).
The converted 17th-century coaching inn is bursting with personality, with whitewashed stone walls, original beams, and antique-style furniture. At the heart of the home is an impressive lounge/diner with a beautiful polished wooden floor and carefully chosen accessories that complement the period property. Enjoy hearty meals together at the elegant dining table, before sinking into one of the sumptuous sofas to watch the Smart TV and warm your toes by the wood burner-effect electric fire. Alternatively, challenge each other to a game of table football or grab your holiday read and head through to the quiet, light-filled conservatory. Also on the ground floor is a refreshing shower room and a galley-style kitchen. When it’s time for bed, choose from two gorgeous bedrooms, both of which have fascinating original features and plush linens for a good night’s sleep. There’s a double bedroom on the ground floor or, upstairs, you’ll find an inviting king-size bedroom nestled under a sloping ceiling in the eaves. This bedroom boasts a fabulous sleigh bed and has an en-suite bathroom with a freestanding bath.
Outside, soak up the sunshine and listen to the birds singing in the surrounding trees in your private garden area. In summer, fire up the BBQ and enjoy an evening of al fresco dining under the stars. The cottage has private parking for two cars.
