Note: All visitors riding a motorcycle must wear a safety helmet while travelling around Rarotonga. It’s compulsory here on the main island (your head will thank you), but not required on the sister islands.
Bus Service Local buses run clockwise and anti-clockwise around the island. Simply head to the main road, wait patiently, and one will arrive eventually. Smile and wave them down (island time applies)
Taxi Services Taxis are readily available around the island if you prefer a door-to-door option.

Easy, relaxed, and plenty of ways to get around
Roosters and chickens wander freely and take their role as morning announcers very seriously. No alarm clock required, earplugs recommended for non-morning people.
Local dogs also roam freely, so please drive carefully. They believe the road belongs to everyone.
Expect a few uninvited but harmless guests such as geckos or insects. They live here full-time and kindly allow us to visit.
