Richmond is a pretty market town which sits on the hilltop above The River Swale. Within the town, narrow streets and alleys spur off from the cobbled Market Place (which has a weekly market and monthly farmers’ market). A hop and a skip will take guests into the lovely old, cobbled town centre lined with shops, pubs, cafes, tearooms and restaurants. Richmond is also famous for its fascinating Norman castle, where walks along the castle walls and down to the River Swale, with its majestic waterfalls, are a real delight. Return from your walk and stop off at the former station for afternoon tea and a well-deserved slice of cake. The Station is now home to a cinema, real ale brewery, ice cream parlour and art gallery. Swaledale and the Yorkshire Dales are on the doorstep, this is an ideal location for keen walkers, cyclists and nature lovers.
The cottage has been lovingly renovated and combines a clever blend of original features with contemporary touches, creating a comfortable yet unique property with everything you need for a romantic trip away. As you walk in, you’ll find yourself standing on the original flagstone floors, one of the many remnants of the cottage’s heritage. In this space, the wood burner provides warmth and atmosphere, and the comfortable sofa is the perfect place from which to watch your favourite film on the Smart TV. As the name suggests, there is an old well in the cottage, which has been made into a feature in the kitchen. Step down to the kitchen area, generously equipped with lots of personal touches and everything you need to prepare romantic meals for two. You'll find an electric oven and hob, fridge, dishwasher, microwave and Nespresso coffee machine. Dine at the table in the lounge or take it to the perfectly placed table on the terrace outside. When it’s time to retire, turn in to the bedroom where you can get a restful night's sleep on the double bed, and spend a lazy morning sipping coffee in bed, watching TV on the Smart TV. Enjoy a refreshing shower in the luxurious en-suite shower room complete with hand basin, beauty-mirror, complimentary toiletries and WC.
Outside, there is a lovely little terrace just off the bedroom which offers a peep to nearby Richmond Castle, the perfect place to enjoy an evening tipple or morning coffee before heading out to the Dales. Down the steps is a walled terrace with a bench. There is a storage cellar here with a handy washing machine and tumble dryer. There are three car parks within Richmond however there is free on-street parking just a short walk from the property (subject to availability).
