Head to the harbour, where you’ll find a collection of retail pods, selling everything from handmade crafts to fresh seafood. For wildlife enthusiasts, a boat trip to Coquet Island is a must, to see the resident seals and breeding puffins in the season. A short walk along the river brings you to medieval Warkworth Castle (1.5 miles), its lovely village and its beach. Discover more fantastic beaches nearby, including a long, sandy stretch at Druridge Bay Country Park (3 miles). Local day trips include the picturesque seaside village of Alnmouth (6 miles) and Alnwick Castle and Gardens (9 miles).
