It's a family story ...
it is that of a determined stonemason man originally, a history buff with no formal education, who became passionate in 1971 (a few years before his retirement) for a real bunch of ruin classified in the inventory of Historic Monuments
This is the one of a man who convinced his family to follow him in his renovation project and who managed to make a pile of stone a magnificent restoration
The castle of Avully has regained its medieval charm with its water ditches, drawbridge, keep, ramparts The 700 m2 of rooms have all been rebuilt from rubble; they are decorated with murals reproducing those of other historic homes
The boxwood gardens, known as Italian, are remarkably well maintained; they reflect the calm and serenity of this secluded place away from the hustle and bustle of the world
