Historic Old West Lawrence - Minutes to beautiful Mass St, KU, Sports Pavillion
Our sunny bungalow is in lovely Old West Lawrence, a historic residential neighborhood. It is 5 blocks to Downtown, a straight shot up the Hill to Memorial Stadium, and well within walking distance to the rest of Campus. We have two full bedrooms and a four-season porch. The porch and deck make a lovely place to enjoy the good weather. While your group will be close enough for creating special memories, there are still private spaces to discover and enjoy in this cozy, well-designed home. Please note: High-Speed data is only available 3 business days after your confirmed reservation. If your stay starts before then, kindly bring your own "hot spot". Thank you for understanding!
After sleeping soundly in our hide-away bungalow, in ten minutes you will arrive at the bespoke venues, shops, bars, and restaurants in beautiful Downtown Lawrence.
This 900-square-foot gem is fully remodeled and pristine. She is a beautiful "middle sister" to two identical bungalows on either side, all lovingly built in the 1920s by a father for each of his three daughters.
You will have access to the entire house, including the front porch and back deck. The basement is inaccessible to guests.
This is our stay-cation house so we are only five miles away for answering any questions or help you out as best we can!
Tree-lined, streets, painted ladies, Edwardian/Victorian/vernacular architecture abound in this gold nugget neighborhood.
Walking is a great way to get to Campus and Downtown from our home. That being said, there is ample on-street parking on our block (unless its Game Day!)
Our well-equipped and pristine home is ideal for well-behaved, responsible, and considerate guests. We have great neighbors and would like them to feel the same way towards us. We want to show you the best that Lawrence has to offer and can only do so if everybody's respectful.
Please note: The initial rate assumes up to two guests; there is a small incremental fee of $10 per guest-night for Guests 3 - 5.
Thank you for understanding.

With a cleanliness rating of 4.9/5.0 and reviews that, unaidedly, compliment the cleanliness of the home, please know that well-before the covid-19 epidemic I have prided myself on offering guests a sparkling clean home.
I am not the least expensive short-term rental in town and this is in part because It takes me an average of 4 hours to clean after each stay; sheets and towels are purposely white cotton, so bleached, floors are mopped, and surfaces are washed with detergent or soap and water.
In addition to these pre-existing measures to clean and disinfect, I have adopted the CDC's recommendation to clean commonly-touched surfaces with a bleach-water mixture. This includes tables, doorknobs, light switches, countertops, handles, desks, toilets, faucets, and sinks.

Wow! This property is perfect for our small family. Located close enough to Mass St and the KU football stadium to walk, in a gorgeous quiet neighborhood, and very well equipped for our Thanksgiving dinner... we can’t wait to visit again!

Thank you for your kind words and for your stay!
Yes, the house is well-suited for families, with both privacy - two plus bedrooms - as well as common spaces - two indoor and two outdoor.
You and your family are so neat and tidy and I admire your ambition, cooking while on vacation! Glad the kitchen was stocked with what you needed.
Alas, the adorable kitty who pays the occasional visit is outdoor-only, due to the home being pet-free. As sweet as she is, thanks for nicely showing her out.

Quaint and comfortable
Had a nice weekend in Lawrence visiting daughter. Having a small home conveniently located with an extra bedroom for the daughter to feel like she can stay the night with us is great. This is our second time staying at this home.

Lovely home for a Lawrence Visit!
My husband and I felt at home when staying here. Great home for a stay when in Lawrence. The location is great for getting anywhere in Lawrence by foot or by car. The neighborhood is quaint which is great for walks or a run. The chocolate laid out for us in the bedrooms was a nice treat!

Hi Kim,
Thank you for the kind words! You and Mike are great Guests, so communicative and so respectful of the place.
Hope to see you back the next time you have the occasion to visit your daughter and the rest of the KU MInnesota contingent.
This house was perfect for our group on a visit to KU. The house was clean and had most everything we needed, even a magnifying mirror (which I always need). The only thing we couldn't find was a deck of cards. The beds were comfortable. We loved the front porch swing and sitting out on the back deck. Nice and close to everything we did. Wouldn't hesitate to book this house again on another trip. Such a cute place!

Felt at home in this Lawrence Bungalow
I rented the Bungalow in Lawrence so that I could nurse my daughter after wrist surgery. The location was perfect, just blocks from the surgery center. The house is so cute and cozy. The owner was very accommodating. She even came by and poured salt on the walkway in anticipation of an icy night. I was also able to add an additional night. I would rent this property again.

Lovely home with great location
We were in town to welcome a new grandbaby - this Home was just as advertised and had all the amenities we needed to have a nice stay in Lawrence, Kansas. The only thing keeping me from placing a “perfect” score is that the couches weren’t real comfy for conversation space, and older guests might not have a phone light to help navigate an unlit sidewalk if they arrive after dark. Communication with owners was prompt and easy.

I really enjoyed our chats that followed-up our stay!
Taking your advice, I installed path lights so from dusk until dawn Guest can "way make" more safely up steps and path leading to the front door.
I am sorry you and your in-laws did not take advantage of the 75" couch coupled with the corner seating area in the sunroom. I
Thanks again for your stay!

Beautifully decorated home, everything was immaculately clean and well taken care of. We appreciated the proximity to downtown, and the pretty historic neighborhood.
We had a family of four stay for a short trip and we found the house to be very nice. Location was great to come and go to downtown and was far enough away that it was very quiet. Beds were comfortable and seemed to be plenty of room. We did not cook during our stay (or even make coffee) but kitchen seemed well stocked for those wishing to eat in. We struggled a bit with the TV (couldn’t figure out the volume, but eventually figured out saying
“Turn up the volume” actually worked with the remote). Leda was very responsive. I have no doubt where we will look first on our next visit to Lawrence.
Great location. Convenient to ROCK Chalk, restaurants and diwntown! So easy to find property and owner responds very quickly with any questions! Would definitely stay again!

Kim and her family are immaculate guests. Kim is responsive, conscientious, and respectful, even going so far as asking what is expected at check-out. Her family is a pleasure to host.
The house worked very well for two couples plus a spare. The proximity to Downtown and campus was ideal.

Sarah, Mike, and their group take good care of the house. They embody the spirit of home stays, taking advantage of the kitchen and living space to spread out and settle in. I am glad the house and neighborhood work well for your family reunion/celebration! Thank you for your stay!
We loved this sweet home! The welcome sign hanging just inside the doorway was just a small taste of the hospitality that awaited us. Everything was very nice, comfortable and cozy. Our stay could not have been any better and was so much nicer than staying in a hotel. We enjoyed our visit very much and recommend this home highly. We hope to visit here again soon.

It was a lovely home just a few blocks from downtown. The trees were beautiful
It was spotlessly clean and the kitchen was well appointed. The only thing missing was a mixer which we found at Goodwill. The house was light and airy. The thing we missed was a comfortable place to read that had good lighting.

Comfortable and convenient location for downtown Lawrence.
Easy check in and a very clean home. Some peices of the house need updating for proper usage. The extra charge for extra people was off putting.

Hello Emily,
Thank you again for your stay and your comments. I'm always trying to improve my rental house and guests' visits; your comments help me do so.
As to the issue of extra fees, I am sorry you were surprised. The last-minute addition of your extra guests made it difficult for you to see the difference in price of a two versus four-person stay. VRBO computes extra guest fees automatically on the reservation page, but I will further add a more explicit description about it on my page.

Beautiful home in a great location
First and foremost, Leda and her husband are amazing hosts! The house is in amazing condition, what you see is exactly what you get in the best way possible. They are also easy to reach with any concerns or questions. I rented this property for 6 weeks for a clinical rotation and I couldn’t have asked for a better place to call home. It’s located in a quite and safe neighborhood near KU campus, Mass street, and grocery stores. I would highly recommend anyone staying here! They are amazing people and take real pride ensuring your stay is everything you hope it to be. If I’m ever back in Lawrence, I will definitely look to stay here again!

Megan is the perfect guest, respectful of the property and communicating with us quickly and easily.
While still in school she is independent and mature, quickly making Lawrence her temporary home. With the full support of her family, she is well on the way to being the perfect Guest and tenant. Lucky is the landlord who gets her upon graduation!
As an example of her helpful attitude, she took extra time out of her busy work schedule to water some newly-planted trees, enabling us to go on vacation knowing they had a good chance of surviving the KS heat.
Could not have asked for better guests in The Pold Family and especially Megan.
Best wishes on your ambitious endeavors, Megan!

About the host

I like dog-walking, market research, my home, and paradoxically, travel! I cannot live without coffee with cream, my dog, Ben, my husband, Charlie, and my 3 kids, usually in that order.
I love Northern California, Vermont, and pretty hiking trails, anywhere in the world.
We often travel with my 80 year-old (young) mom, Penelope, to keep us calm and positive. She's inspirational.
My motto: "No day is over if it makes a memory."
Why they chose this property
This 950 square-foot home is a beautiful "middle sister" to two identical bungalows on either side, all lovingly built in the 1920's by a father for each his three daughters.
We purchased the house over 24 years ago for its perfect size for newlyweds and amazing location. As our family grew bigger, we outgrew it and moved five miles West of Downtown Lawrence. Through the ensuing years we rented it. In Fall 2017 we renovated it, inside and out, and are proud to be able to use her as our stay-cation home.
What makes this property unique
Our 1923 bungalow is in lovely Old West Lawrence, a prime residential neighborhood. It is 5 blocks to Downtown, a straight shot up the Hill to Memorial Stadium, and well within walking distance to the rest of Campus. We have two full bedrooms and a four - season porch. The porch and deck make a lovely place to enjoy the good weather.
After sleeping soundly in our hide-away bungalow, in ten minutes you will arrive at the bespoke venues, shops, bars, and restaurants in beautiful Downtown Lawrence.
