About the host
Hosted by Lauri Hines

We are former San Diegans who now live in Oregon, and love to travel with our Rottweilers.
Roy is a physician, and Lauri's background is in commercial real estate, so vacation rentals started as a sideline.
We bought our first vacation rental as a weekend getaway with our dogs, and loved it so much we decided to open it to other dog-loving travelers who also wanted a getaway.
The home was soon booked up, a movie was filmed on-site, and many guests returned on a regular basis to enjoy the home we loved so much.
Since then, we have stayed in many vacation rentals, with and without our dogs, and have used our stays to develop best practices to welcome our guests on their vacations.
Our passion is to create amazing homes that our guests will love: An amazing location, unique and stylish decor, superb comfort, a calming ambiance, and fun for the whole group.
From anniversaries to family reunions, milestone birthdays, and even times when families are gathering to say goodbye to a loved one, it is our honor and privilege to help our guests with their vacation accommodations.
Our homes reflect all of the happy vibes from family reunions and good times that our guests have enjoyed.
The great feedback from our guests drives our passion to create the best experience possible for them, so we are constantly updating and improving our homes to provide a great experience for our guests.
We look forward to welcoming you soon!
Best Regards,
Lauri Hines

Why they chose this property
We love Nye Beach. It is such a unique and popular vacation destination, yet still rings true with its own Nye Beach vibe.
We bought this property at auction in early 2017. The first floor (now The Landing) was a defunct beauty salon, and the top three floors had been used as a personal residence. Every wall and ceiling was painted in different hues of red. purple, green, mustard yellow, etc., and thick brown shag carpet abounded.
There was also a maroon jetted tub and matching toilet :0
We began a total renovation, and I spent the first half of 2017 working on the house. Some design element firsts for me were luxe cork flooring in the master, brick veneer walls in The Landing and the Secret Game Room, stainless steel and butcher block counters, pickling and installing a pallet wood accent face on the kitchen island (thanks to the local hardware company for letting me scrounge), and my new favorite, Typhoon Green granite in a leather finish with broken edges.
I bought a gigantic flamethrower to do the burnt cedar boards in The Landing and the Secret Game Room, and was terrified when the first flames shot out 8 feet! I kept going (although in tears) because I thought the guys wouldn't wimp out so I couldn't either. It turned out my contractor burnt all of the hair off of one of his hands when he used it. We were both OK, and I think the burnt cedar walls turned out great.
The two most fun things about this renovation were turning an absolute eyesore front porch into an elegant enclosed sunroom with a spa, and the Secret Game Room!
Without giving too much away, I came across a Murphy Door (a door disguised as a bookshelf) and had an AHA moment. My husband Roy and I had entirely too much fun designing this hidden room, with a wet bar, 100" screen, foosball table, etc., and I have to ask guests to let me know if they don't find it in the first day or so, because a couple of guests never did. It is too much fun to miss!

What makes this property unique
I was working too hard on the house to really enjoy its proximity to EVERYTHING in Nye Beach until it was done, but now we are really loving this location!
It is across the street from the Performing Arts Center. Recently, my son and I enjoyed a show, with a live orchestra, at the PAC and had an amazing time. I loved how the entire cast lined up on either side to greet us as we left.
We walked across the street from there to The Pacific Cafe and had an excellent dinner of fresh seafood and a beautiful view of the ocean.
In the morning, a quick walk down the street takes you to a french bakery that would stand its ground in Portland or New York, and in the afternoon you can go wine tasting, eat in numerous great restaurants, and hit a number of great shops and used bookstores in a five-minute walk.
The layout of the villa is very conducive to large groups. One lucky couple will enjoy the 800 SF master on its own floor, but the other bedrooms are also amazing. Parents and kids will love the Secret Game Room, with its 100" screen, vintage records, popcorn maker, poker table and foosball and othere games galore.
Parents of younger kids will love Coast Park, with a 3-story pirate ship slide, across the street, and dog parents will love the dog park just down the street at the entrance to the beach.
It feels like a world away, tucked into the midst of a vibrant seaside neighborhood.
