Kids can be watching T.V. while the adults sit in the other room and relax with a nice glass of wine. There is a small library that you can sit and read a nice book and all of these rooms have sliding pocket doors so you can close them off to others. Sitting 2 block from the Bay Front you can stroll down the hill and go see all of the huge fishing boats or go shopping along the Bay Front. There are several restaurants down on the Bay Front as well. The house is centrally located to be close to everything Newport has to offer. It is a 5 minute drive to the ocean......or to go South of the Yaquina Bridge to take in the Aquarium or the Oregon Science Center. We loved our stay here. If you don’t mind walking up and down a pretty big hill, Newport is within walking distance. We enjoyed the spaciousness of the house and especially enjoyed the porch. We would stay here again and highly recommend it!
This house was such a great stay for us in Newport! We had a small family get together and it was perfect. We even had a baby with us and the little library room having doors was great for him. The ample seating in both of the common areas was cozy and comfortable. There was plenty of kitchen space, utensils, and anything we could ever need to help get things cooked. The hosts were very kind and responsive when we needed extra supplies. Would definitely stay here again and recommend it to anyone else who is considering a stay in Newport!
With 4 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, a living room and a den, this property gave the six of us plenty of space to get together in small groups or in a large bunch. The open floor plan meant we could laugh and talk while we fixed a meal or just coffee. The beds were comfortable and the house was just minutes from everywhere we wanted to do. I hope we can stay here again, as it's a delightful home away from home.
We stayed here for a baseball tournament with some family friends. Great location near the marina, schools, and quick to hop onto the highways. Owners were proactive in their communication and quick to respond.

Haven by the Harbor
This was an ideal place for a family get away. Great space for all to enjoy. It was very well equipped, especially the kitchen pantry. We spent a long week end and found plenty to do. Loved all the windows and light!
This home has so many places to gather or have some quiet time. Upper bedroom was great for those who like it warmer and basement bedrooms were comfy for those of us who like it cooler. Very well outfitted kitchen and brand new deck!
The house was very clean which made us feel comfortable. The layout and size of the house accommodated our family very well. The deck was nice size but needed a little TLC. And there was a peculiar smell where you open the inside entry door to the house. We were very happy with our stay and the supplies in the kitchen were awesome. I replaced sandwich bags and paper towels. Thank you we we hope to rent the house again next year..

Great location and house!
We wanted to be in Newport but not right on the beach. We wanted to be where the action is! This house was perfectly located. We could walk to Bay Street to stroll and eat. It’s just a few minutes drive to coast street and to the beach it’s self. We were traveling with grandparents parents and four children and the house was perfect! I’ll bedrooms were together on the first floor and the living area Upstairs was a homey and perfect and had room for everyone. I whole family was delighted. Nancy was great to work with and very responsive and helpful.

Space for fun and relaxation
We rented this home for a girls weekend - we set up to sew quilts. We used the huge dining room table for five of us to quilt all weekend. Wonderful natural lighting, evening time we had to bring in a few more lamps. Fun!!
The kitchen and pantry are very well stocked. The living room is large and there is a lot of space for big groups to spread out - or stay together.
The owner was very responsive and a great communicator. I felt like if we needed anything she'd be able to help. We certainly would rent this home again.

Fabulous Family Fun
We found the location perfect for our adult family get-together. Close to everything you need to get a family through a reunion; sandy beaches, an aquarium, outdoor marine wildlife viewing locations, tourist shops, grocery stores, all types of eating venues, and a couple of breweries.
What made the house really work for us was the well-stocked large kitchen, a shaded outdoor firepit area complete with cushioned seating, a dining area that easily seated eight adults, and two family/livings rooms. One, which was great for late-night games, could be closed off from the rest of the house by pocket doors, and located over the garage rather than the downstairs' bedrooms.
The house met all our needs and we wouldn't hesitate recommending this home to others.
Nice place for family and extended family to stay. Private with plenty of room. If I were to change one thing for safety reasons it would be to change out bathroom and entry rugs to nonslip rugs.
We had a truly enjoyable stay at this spacious and well-maintained coast house. The home was spotless upon arrival and had plenty of room for everyone to relax comfortably. One of the highlights was the three wonderful bathrooms—clean, modern, and convenient for a group. We especially loved the large dining area, perfect for gathering and sharing meals together. The location was easy to find and made a great home base for exploring. It was just a short drive to the harbor and a great selection of local restaurants.Overall, this rental exceeded our expectations, and we would absolutely stay here again!
We rented Nancy's property for our Irish relatives to stay in for our wedding weekend in Newport. They loved the spacious home and the location. They were very comfortable, and the home had everything they needed for a 4 night stay.
My family, my parents and my in-laws all stayed in this house. It is located very close to the bay, and is a short drive from the beach. We loved that it was on the outskirts of Newport so it was easy getting in and out of town. It was close to the wedding venue we were attending and the house was so open. We all loved it
House was great! All we needed and very close to the softball fields. Very convenient!

About the host
Hosted by Nancy Thurston
My husband and I have always vacationed on the Oregon Coast. Our favorite town each visit was Newport. We decided to buy a home there in anticipation of using it as our retirement home. We fell in love with this house and enjoy having a place we can call home in Newport. I am in Real Estate and my husband is in Business Intelligence. We enjoy the outdoors, cooking, entertaining and travel. It has been fun putting our beach home together and making it our home away from home.
Why they chose this property
As my husband and I searched for the 'right' house to buy in Newport we kept coming back to this one as our favorite. This home had so many windows and let in so much light that I felt like I was outside. The deck gives us a view of the Yaquina Bay and a place to BBQ. We really like to cook and entertain so a good sized kitchen was a must. This home is a great floor plan for entertaining groups. There is room to get away from each other or gather all together. The windows let in so much light and allow you to watch the weather when it rains. If you watch outside you often see Blue Jays in the yard and an occasional Hummingbird The open floor plan is great for groups. We like having a 2 story house so if some want to sleep while others want to play, the bedrooms are downstairs and the family, living room and kitchen are upstairs. You can see the Bay from our deck and you can enjoy the Rhododendrons in the spring, they are huge!
What makes this property unique
Because we love to cook the kitchen is very well stocked complete with many spices and a good assortment of condiments. If you are a lover of Italian we have a fresh pasta maker, along with lots of pots, pans, utensils and knives so you can make whatever you like. If you get the chance to go crabbing, Newport is the Dungeness Crab Capital of the world! The house also has a washer and dryer for your convenience and there are extra linens and towels if you need them. There is a flat screen T.V. and a DVR with lots of recorded movies to choose from for your enjoyment. We also have an assortment of cards, games, books and jigsaw puzzles to keep you entertained while you visit.
