Red Mountain Shadows Retreat -- Enjoy Sedona With All The Comforts of Home

Enjoy Sedona at the Red Mountain Shadows Retreat:

Enter into this remodeled home with a rustic yet modern, contemporary feel, and be swept away into the majestic red mountains of Sedona and the beautiful surrounding dog-friendly restaurants, shops, and art galleries. Tile floors, soft wood furniture and ceiling beams, and beautiful accents lend themselves to the warmth of this home. Enjoy our fully landscaped backyard with a stone staircase, paver patio, synthetic lawn, shade and fruit trees, a small foot bridge over the river rock bordered creek, and a seating area with a fire table. From here you can sit and see Thunder Mountain during the day and many stars at night. Our home is located in a cul-de-sac in West Sedona on more than a third of an acre, with floor to ceiling windows overlooking a large deck and a view of Thunder Mountain from the backyard, kitchen, and living room. We also have an inviting 200-square-foot wood deck for relaxing, stargazing, having a barbeque, or just enjoying the privacy and tranquil atmosphere this home has to offer. You can listen to the running water of the wash behind the house after a rain, or the morning conversation of the birds in the trees while enjoying your favorite beverage. After breakfast, you are encouraged to explore the Mission Hills community on foot with views of Thunder Mountain, Coffee Pot Rock, Chimney Rock, and Sugarloaf Mountain only steps away.

Includes a SPAN EV car charger (11.52 kW, 48A, SAE J1772 connector).

Our beautiful 200-square-foot patio is a wonderful place to relax, surrounded by forest scenery, where you can look up at the stars while enjoying the clean air and a nice glass of wine or beer as you let yourself drift away from the things of man. Amenities for you to enjoy at the pool include a shallow end (4' deep) with a water slide. A deep end (7' deep) that allows diving off of the deck, as well as a Liquid Jail sprinkler feature for little ones to enjoy on deck. The pool has 18 lounge chairs, artificial turf to play on, and a shade structure for those wanting to have a reprieve from the sun.

Why Share Our Home?

Good question. We have lived in Arizona for over a decade and are continually drawn to the natural beauty and adventures that Sedona has to offer, but we found that it was difficult to share these adventures with our dogs because of the limited options and high expense associated with staying in Sedona with two dogs, especially larger dogs.

So, we looked long and hard for a second home in Sedona that we could share with others like us who enjoy taking their furry family members with them on vacation. We have a German Shorthaired Pointer and a Redbone Coonhound that love to visit our home in Sedona, where they can see and smell all that this wonderful environment has to offer, and we love watching them enjoy it. We hope that you and your dogs will enjoy it as much as we do.

Sedona is all about the outdoors no matter what time of year. There are so many things to do and enjoy, there is something for everyone. The Red Mountain Shadows Retreat is a great home base to begin your tour of Sedona, whether you’re here for hiking, sightseeing, dining, shopping, golfing, or self-healing. This home is suitable for couples, singles, friends, and children over the age of seven.

We manage our house and do not use 3rd-party companies or vendors. To ensure easy payment processing, we have updated our terms to the minimum VRBO will allow, 25% due at booking and the remainder due 13 days before check-in.

I can’t say enough good things about this place! We travel with three large dogs and it is always a challenge to find a house that will allow us to stay with them. This place had a yard with a fenced in dog run, provided dog beds, and a water bowl. My babies were so happy and comfortable! This house is also in the perfect location. If we come back to Sedona we will be staying here again.

Enjoyed our stay even without our dog, though it was exceptionally well set up to accommodate dogs! House was thoughtfully well stocked and maintained. Owner was very kind and his communication was excellent. The home was centrally located and accommodated 2 couples comfortably. The outdoor areas were so nice, but we didn’t take much advantage of it because we had a lot of rain and thunderstorms.

Incredible place to stay

Gorgeous home, well supplied, fantastic yard and deck opportunities for relaxing in the sun. Unlike many vrbos where you need to get your own supplies, Jonathon provides everything you could possibly need. I will definitely return.

Excellent property

I had never done a VRBO and I wasn't sure what to expect. This property and home were very nice! Everything that was expected was there and the property and home were very clean and fully equipped with items for a great stay! The owner kept in touch with us and made us feel very welcome. There was information on how to leave the property and what do when you check in. Just an excellent experience! We'd stay there again for sure!

Great location to hike and access to Sedona a!

It is a dog a house- but we did not have a dog. I was concerned about booking a place that takes dogs, but it was not a problem. Do wish they had a lamp in the main room and bedroom for reading at night.

Quick Getaway

My husband and I (and our 2 small dogs) stayed in this lovely home for a few days to take a break from Tucson. We love Sedona and try to visit often. Jonathan's home was everything we needed for the short trip. The dogs loved the large backyard (this is a very dog friendly home) and we enjoyed sitting outside in the mornings on the patio drinking coffee. The home was very comfortable. I would suggest lamps for the living space and master bedroom to perhaps read from, however there was plenty of light overhead. We truly enjoyed our stay and would not hesitate to stay again in the future.

Immaculate!

This home is exactly as described. It is, however, even nicer in person! Very nice layout, modern, and IMMACULATE. Location is excellent. Very quiet and beautiful neighborhood. It was a little chilly /shady on the deck (in December) so we didn't get to enjoy that as we would have liked. But it would be a perfect to enjoy in warmer weather. Kitchen is awesome. All the dishware and cooking supplies are new and high quality. And, of course, the home is full doggy amenities!

Perfect, pet-friendly stay

As a regular vacation home renter, I can say, without hesitation, that this is the most pet-friendly place we’ve ever rented. It’s clear the owners love their fur babies as much as we do. But this isn’t just a terrific pet-friendly home, it’s a terrific home - period. The deck and yard, in particular, are AMAZING - even larger and more beautiful than the photos depicted. The master bath shower? Love. The added touches - the welcome basket and wine, the swift and responsive communication with owners - make this rental even more special. We will be staying again!

Home is in a great location. Wonderfully updated. Perfect for one or two couples. And if you have a dog this is the ultimate property. The house must give off great dog vibes because our dogs immediately felt like they were home. Dog beds, dog door, and dog run made it safe to leave the dogs while we explored Sedona. We will 100% stay here again.

Best VRBO Rental by far

We have stayed in several VRBO rentals, and I have to say that this one exceed every single one. The host responded to all my questions, literally, within minutes. The house was as described, super clean and had all the things one would need: spices, toilet paper, paper towels, dish and hand soap, shampoo, conditioner, q-tips, you name it. They even provided Starbucks whole bean coffee and a grinder. The beds and pillows were very comfortable - I think more comfortable than my own! The A/C was easy to control and kept that house comfortable. We only ate breakfast in and we had everything we needed to prepare it before heading out to hike and explore. The location could not have been more perfect. We were within 20 minutes of every trailhead we wanted to explore, and the proximity to Whole Foods and several great restaurants was perfect. Our family brought two dogs and they had everything we needed for our furry companions. My husband appreciated the dedicated workspace and large monitor so he could do a little work while we were there. The neighborhood was quiet and we even spotted a coyote pack and several deer walking out front on two separate early mornings. If we ever get back to Sedona again, we will absolutely stay at this property!
