123 Upper Terrace Lower - Avalon Home
What a fabulous location!

You will see spectacular views of the harbor, ocean, and town from this beautiful multi-level house built on the hillside of Avalon. The lower half is two stories with 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. Is a great vacation spot for families and those who want to avoid the hustle and bustle of town. There are only 21-25 steps down the side of the house to the entryway, which would lead you to the top floor, right into the living/dining room area. Access a large private balcony through sliding glass doors, where you can sit and eat while you admire the scenery. The kitchen is fully stocked with essential appliances and plenty of counter space. Continue through the top floor to enter the master bedroom and master bath. Stow all of your belongings in the very spacious closet, and enjoy a comfortable night's sleep on the large king bed.

Stair access to lower level is by the front door, which will lead you down to the other two bedrooms and a shared bathroom. Each bedroom has a queen sized bed. All floors on both levels have been recently re-done, along with new furniture and décor.

QUIET HOURS: 9:00 p.m. and 8:00 a.m. (use of outdoor areas strictly prohibited).

**There is construction in the neighborhood that can, at times, be heard in the house, from 9am - 6pm.

The quintessential Catalina view from every room made the trip. The huge deck was just as the pictures show. Having a 4 passenger rain proofed golf cart was fabulous for easy trips down the hill. The place had all the basics. It was not modern or new which made it reasonable for a family of 6 to experience the location. The sheets smelled clean, we had plenty of toilet paper and we didn’t encounter any bugs over new years week. Note: If you’re bougie this isn’t the place for you. Summary: Basic accommodations with sensational views and convenient golf cart.

Catalina Island Vacation

Everything about this rental was great. The view of the waterfront from the balcony was spectacular. There was plenty of space in the home and access to the golf cart made this vacation complete. Even though we were there during Christmas week, most of the restaurants and shops were open. Would stay her again.

Best view in Avalon

The condo is very comfortable and has an amazing view overlooking the village and harbor below. I would have been content just to sit on the deck all day. But there was a lot of biking and hiking and eating to keep us busy. Avalon is a beautiful place!

Unbeatable View

We stayed in the lower unit with one other couple. While there are steep stairs to enter the unit, this was clearly communicated to us and wasn't a problem. The view is stunning and the patio is perfect. We did have an issue with one of the showers, but called the number provided and a person showed up to help within an hour. We would stay here again.

We very much enjoyed our stay, however the golf cart that was advertised became not available about 2 days before our trip and instead were reimbursed for 2 cab rides a day. The location of the property, the golf cart makes things easier and convenient. We were able to make it work without the use of the house golf cart, but it would have made the trip easier. We came across issues with the WiFi and some mouse droppings in one cabinet, but the management company was very responsive and immediately sent a maintenance crew to clean and set a trap. The view is amazing and we enjoyed our stay. Just a few hiccups along the way.

We loved the location! The house is very roomy. Two bedrooms are downstairs with one bedroom upstairs. The views from all of the bedrooms and living room were amazing. A washer/dryer were a very nice bonus. My only disappointment is that the golf cart was not available due to insurance issues. We chose this particular place as we thought we would have access to our own cart. We were notified a few days before our arrival that it would not be available to us. However, we were reimbursed for two taxi rides per day which meant a ride into town and back. There were times when we went into town more than twice.

Property was as advertised. We had a couple power outages, but they were fixed in a timely manner. Had an issue with toilet, it was fixed promptly. The view was awesome. Management company said the would refund 25% for the day power was out. Not sure when that refund hits my account.

Beautiful view and quiet street - but that is about it

We booked this house for the view and were very impressed with that. The golf cart was a big plus as well. However for the price we paid this house left a lot to be desired. -the floors were dirty -deck furniture was stained and dirty-living room and dining room furniture is worn and dirty-living room TV wasn't working (not sure if broken or no power supply)-the kitchen drain smelled like rotting food-the upstairs bathroom is small and dated, with no fan. The shower/bathtub is very slow to drain, so you'll be standing in high water during your shower. Also the shower knob is broken and barely functional-the upstairs bed is very tall and extremely squeaky, the pillows are flat-the door to this unit is at the bottom of a steep set of stairs on the side of the house. It is not accessible and there is no stairway lighting at night-the location is very quiet but is not easy to walk to - it's a 15 minute walk from town up a steep street

Spectacular Avalon views

Situated right below the Inn at Mt Ada with the same spectacular views we enjoyed when staying at the Inn in the past. Like most of Avalon this is an older property that had been enlarged with a few quirks. One of the two bath/showers didn't work (this is likely to be corrected for future guests). Don't expect any coffee or miscellaneous condiments in the fridge - this is a straight rental not someones home. Biggest complaint is that there is no shade on the balcony at all. If you want to fully enjoy the view that Wrigley chose for his own home, come prepared with sunblock, loose clothing and hats.

For the people who like a brief summary- many bugs and there might be structural issues with the property.As for the more detailed version, we arrived for a week. We came in, admired the view and left to go grocery shopping. We woke up to ants eating our food, which had to be thrown away. We had to clean that. We informed the property mgmt company and they responded promptly. They gave us bug spray. We sprayed and that DID NOT resolve the issue. There are just way too many and they have been there for a LONG TIME. They were everywhere from the kitchen to the laundry room. In fact, I grabbed a pan to cook with, placed it on the stove and walked away. When I returned about a minute later, there were all these ants...apparently, I did not see the ants on the black pan and I burned them. It was disgusting! But that was not the only issue, when we were there a contractor from the neighboring property stopped by and indicated that the property was leaking water and the city inspector was called. If this property is leaking water and its located on a hill, then that is a problem. I am not an engineer, but common sense tells me wood and water do not mix after years of not being maintained. Thus, it would explain the millipedes inside the unit. The millipedes eat the rotten wood. While they are very unsightly, they are not poisonous. I called and never received a call back from the manager. There were other issues, but these were the most concerning!

Great place, needs a bit of TLC.

Great location, terrific balcony and views, good-sized bedrooms. Having a golf cart was great. Construction site next door a bit noisy during weekdays. Kitchen and cookware ok, could use a peeler, more pot lids, sharper knives. Carpeting is old, stains from previous renters. Internet router was very weak, could only get a decent signal in the master bedroom. Both toilet "flaps" need to be replaced--needed to open the tank and set them or else the toilets would keep flushing. The door handle of the larger bedroom on the lower floor is wonky-- one of our family got locked in, couldn't open from either side, had to use credit card to open, then taped the mechanism open with bandaids. Otherwise---we had a GREAT time!

Cleanliness and Supplies

The stay was fine. No communication about the construction next door was not told to us. So as we were hoping for a peaceful conversation there was none. The construction workers were working from 8:30 to 8:00 at night. There was no soap for the washer so we purchased some BUT the main concern was the Dryer. The lint container on the dryer was NEVER cleaned. We had to pull hard on the dryer vent to remove the lint. Such a fire hazard. Also there was only a partial roll of toilet paper in the bathrooms. We had to call to get extra rolls which we shouldn’t have too. No soap in the bathroom shower.

The host was friendly and check in was easy. A breaker blew during our stay, and the host took care of it quickly with good communication. The VIEW is phenomenal and the unit was clean, comfortable and easy to relax in. We could hear the upstairs occupants talking and walking, but fortunately they were on the same sleep/wake schedule so it wasn't an issue. The king bed in the main room was hilariously squeaky. Maybe some WD-40 could help.Thankfully we had the golf cart because hiking up and down the road would have been challenging. It's about 15-20 minutes into town. That being said, Wild Bill's was a trusty little cart. Instructions on how to fill the tank and best fuel to use would have been helpful. Overall a great stay and our group enjoyed it very much.

Dirty & Dated with a Spectacular View

Upon arrival we thought the location was great! Once we stepped inside, we were shocked. The house was very dirty. Dirty walls (handprints, footprints, scuff marks), light switches, the floors (must wear slippers or socks), table mats, kitchen cabinets etc. We immediately began to wash/wipe down all the visible dirt. Not exactly what we thought would be the first thing we did on our vacation. There is no denying the view - it's beautiful. I guess that's what we paid for. As we settled in we also found the "new" couch is very squeaky/creaky, the lower level shower was disgusting; dirty bath towels were left hanging in the shower, the tub/shower was also creaky and unstable and the shower was backed up with a large amount of hair that backed up into the shower while someone was using it - disgusting. I finally contacted the management to let them know the condition of the house and they kindly thanked me for letting them know and asked me to send photos, which I did. and that was that. Other information the owner or property manager should share is that the local store will charge you for grocery bags and that their guests can find bags in the kitchen left by other guests to use for shopping. There are no beach towels so the bath/house towels double as both. Purchase laundry soap when you arrive so you can continually rotate the towels. Instructions on how to start the golf cart would have been helpful as well as directions to the gas station - since the golf cart has to be filled before you leave. We made the best of out of our stay, but were very disappointed by the condition of the house. What's the cleaning fee for if they aren't cleaning the house and where's my fee, since I did the cleaning? I would not stay here again. It's not that the rental is a bad place - very simple fixes would make a BIG difference.
