SXSW East - Downtown Train Depot Blocks From Franklin BBQ & E 6th

Walk to ALL SXSW East events and downtown Convention Center while experiencing the charm of a rustic, historic train depot family home. This is downtown, a few blocks east of I-35.

We relocated the train depot from Granger, TX in 2003 and turned it into our home. Ceilings downstairs are over 15' tall, and it's full of bohemian charm. Two bedrooms downstairs and a small sleeping alcove in a loft share the downstairs bathroom (antique cast iron tub, separate WC, washer and dryer). The attic has been finished out as a bedroom with its own half bath.

Great House, Great Location

Julie was a fantastic, flexible host. She was very communicative and helpful. The house was fantastic. Plenty of space. GREAT location. I'd definitely stay here again.

Why they chose this property

Julie had moved a few buildings and decided to take on the project of moving this amazing but very dilapidated 100-year old old train depot the 40 miles into town. Francois' architecture background is very much evident when you see details like the imaginative stair tower with and the "nothing like it" attic finish out that feels like a tree house. This is our home. We haven't seen anything like it, because it represents our unique expression.

What makes this property unique

You feel good when you hang out in the great room with it's 15' ceilings and windows that entire surround the room. Spacious, light filled and grand yet, authentically distressed. Top floor feels like you are in a tree house.
