About this property

Couples getaway w/king bed, Wi-Fi, & outdoor Hot Tub in WNC Mountains

You will feel right at home in this spacious and comfortable cabin. The living area has an oversized sofa and recliner, a Smart HDTV, central heating and A/C, plus a REAL wood burning stove for cold weather.

If you don't plan to eat out, the cabin's well-equipped full-size kitchen and dining area has ample space and everything you'll need to prep, cook, and serve your favorite meals. There is also a grill just steps from the kitchen back door.

The large bedroom has a king size bed. There is an updated 3-piece bathroom and a washer and dryer in the cabin.

Our property is available year-round and is only 10 miles from the historic town of Hot Springs, NC and its namesake resort-spa with the naturally hot mineral water baths. Hot Springs is a quaint mountain paradise set on the banks of the French Broad River, surrounded by the Blue Ridge Mountains and the Pisgah National Forest. The northbound sidewalk through town is the Appalachian Trail! There are a few locally owned restaurants, a popular brewery with tap room, a couple of eclectic shops, an artist’s gallery, and an old-time hardware store--but you won't find a traffic light or a fast-food restaurant.

You won't be bored here unless you want to be. In the cabin you'll find a detailed list of nearby attractions and places of interest, things to do, and local restaurants and stores. The city of Asheville and the small mountain towns of Marshall, Waynesville, and Weaverville are each about a 45-minute drive.

Back at the cabin, the covered front and back porches invite you to kick back and relax in the rocking chairs, you might see a few deer or wild turkeys. Toast marshmallows for s’mores at the fire pit or enjoy stargazing from the private 2-person hot tub!

CONFIRMATION: With your payment in full, you will receive an email from our business that includes the cabin address, detailed directions, lockbox code for cabin key, and other information useful for planning your trip.

LOCATION: This cabin is located at the top of a private, gravel single-lane road, approximately 1/3 mile from the paved road. Although our gravel road is well-maintained it has a steady incline and may be difficult for motorcycles. A 4-wheel drive/all-wheel drive vehicle is recommended during the winter months.

ADDITIONAL ACCOMMODATIONS: We have two 1-bedroom/1-bathroom rental cabins (with no shared spaces), approximately 100ft apart, plus our home about 150ft away, centered in a clearing on a 7+ acre property. Other travelers may be present during your stay. If you would like additional information you can search Vrbo listings #1287393 and #497797 or send an inquiry message.

* NOTE * As owners who manage our own vacation rentals, we live on-site and are available if needed, but will never impose on your privacy.

Relaxing
We have stayed in many cabins in the Smoky Mountains and surrounding area. This one was the best. Very clean, very well appointed, and attention to detail was spot on. It was obvious that the cabin was very well loved and cleaned by the owner. The price per night and host fees were very reasonable. Communication with Jeanne was simple and prompt. Our favorite was the hot tub. Loved that it is right outside the bedroom door on the deck and very private. We only came down off the mountain once to grab pizza at Vinyl Pies Pizza and right back up. We will definitely stay here again.

Cozy Cabin
The cabin and the amenities provided are well thought out and accessible. The property was easily accessed and well maintained. It was a nice, cozy place with plenty of home comfort. I will say I was quite surprised how close this cabin is to the owner of the properties home. Though we didn’t see the owners during the stay it lack the feeling of privacy from the very start. In addition from the hot tub you are literally looking directly into the front windows of their home with no privacy screening or foliage in between. The hot tub is excellent but the seats don’t face the view they face back towards the cabin. I would recommend the owner please put up a lattice screen or something to give the area some more privacy. Other than that the drive is only 10-12 miles from Hot Springs but the mountain road is extremely narrow and winds through the mountain so it takes about 25 minutes to complete the journey.

About the host

Hosted by Jeanne and John McDaniel

Host profile image
After living in cities on the east coast for 30+ years, John and I began looking for a place we would eventually retire to. We wanted property in a rural area but within an hour’s drive of a city, not too far from family, and somewhere we could enjoy all four seasons.

Why they chose this property

John found this property; it had a couple of existing cabins so there was room for our family and friends to stay too. We bought the property in late 2013.

At first, we came about once a month spending a long weekend with family or friends to explore, relax, and de-stress. Soon we were coming more often, and eventually several times a month. Each time we were here, we just didn’t want to leave—it is so beautiful and peaceful. We put our house in the city up for sale… and began building a log cabin here, which we moved into in October 2017.

What makes this property unique

Today, as we look out on the clear blue skies, the beautiful mountains and forest land surrounding us, and to the creek and farm valley below, we know we made the right decision and are very happy to be living here.

We hope you will have the opportunity to experience how relaxing and rejuvenating a stay in these mountains can be!
