Locals know about the historic Bare Farm and its beloved Cabin on the River. Many a wedding party has bumped down the dirt road to witness vows below its stained glass windows. There have been festivities, a time or two. Some folks tell the story of a dog that went tubing and a grandmother who parked herself on a lawn chair in the river to watch. There was a grandfather who danced till dawn, went home to feed the cows and hurried back to catch the last song. Just 3 miles from historic Lexington, the Cabin sleeps 8, with two full size beds in one room, a queen size in the other, and a king size mattress on the floor in the loft. There's a fully equipped kitchen facing a stone fireplace in the large main room. There are old iron beds and hand made quilts. There's a glider on the porch where you might want to sit in the mornings to drink your coffee and watch the fog rise off the river. Some say laughter still echoes through the trees.........
Peace and tranquility: If you are looking for a place to renew your spirit....the Cabin on the River at the Bare Farm is it. Some say laughter still echoes through the trees..........

We loved the property. The host were very friendly and welcoming. It is right on the river. Perfect for family get aways. Cannot wait to return with my nephews when it is warmer.
If heaven were on earth …I think we found it !My family and I had the most beautiful stay. The cabin, river and landscaping were gorgeous!!!Thank you kindly from my family to yours for your incredible hospitality.
The cabin is very private over looking the Maury River. We enjoy the peaceful setting with lots of wildlife! It's a great place to relax, and enjoy all God's beauty. This
A truly unique and wonderful place … the phrase “God’s country” comes to mind. My wife and I enjoyed two relaxing nights, enjoying the porch, the sound of the river, the night sky, the deer and ducks in the large yard down to the Maury (river). The cabin is not modern but very comfortable with a fantastic fireplace (easy to use; not hard to enjoy!). Note that it is rustic (though with all typical amenities, except dishwasher/laundry) - and, yes, we did encounter the stinkbugs which like to find their way inside at certain times of year … but, still, it’s an awesome place! And could not be more convenient to Lexington and Natural Bridge. Hosts are very friendly and response - and we loved getting the history of the place from Mr. Nuckols! Thanks for sharing with us!
This was our 3rd vacation at this piece of paradise We love the peacefulness with the sound of the Maury River in the background and the view of the river from the porch! We will definitely be back in the Fall.
My husband and I love this cabin and want to go back in the Spring. The property is gorgeous and very private. The sounds and views of the Maury River from the porch was very relaxing. We noticed people walking, biking and jogging on a trail on the opposite side of the river and discovered that they were on a portion of the Chessie Trail. We drove to one of the nearby trail access areas and took our two dogs on a 3 mile walk. What a treasure!
The setting and cabin were absolutely perfect. The drive through the farm to the cabin was beautiful, and we enjoyed seeing the horses and donkeys! We loved it so much that we reserved another 4 nights in October
