About this property

Incredible View-Secluded Cabin-Community Lake, Fire Pit

This precious rustic cabin on Line Runner Ridge is 3 miles out of Rosman (~10 miles from Brevard), off Hwy 178. This cozy 1Bed, 1Bath, 750 sq. ft. cabin is at an elevation of 3100 feet and, with its almost 180 degree amazing long-range view, overlooks Mount Pisgah and the Blue Ridge Parkway. It’s a perfect get-away for anyone who loves being in the middle of nature and the arts. Please be aware that we are 1.5 miles on a narrow gravel road that has 2 or 3 steep hills. Most 2-wheel cars/trucks have no trouble getting to the cabin. And, we promise you won't be disappointed! Feel free to contact us with any questions or concerns.
The neighborhood is quiet and friendly.

The cabin has a queen bed in the bedroom and a queen sofa sleeper in the living room. The kitchen is equipped for cooking, including a full-sized refrigerator and stove, microwave, pots, a crock pot, a toaster and, of course, a coffee maker. The kitchen extends to outdoors with the gas grill.

The living room has panoramic windows to take advantage of nature’s canvas which changes every day. Start your day with a cup of coffee on the large covered porch and enjoy the quiet solitude as the smoky mountains wake up - it just doesn't get any better than this! In fact, why not have all your meals outdoors? The large covered porch is by far best room in the house. You could almost live on the porch. At 3100 ft elevation, the temperatures are perfect even in the middle of summer. When it gets cool in the evenings, come in and warm up by the gas log stove, maybe pop some corn and start a movie. There is free internet, 42" flat screen TV, Roku with Netflix and YouTubeTV to access all sports so you won't miss anything.

The bathroom has a tub/shower, sink, toilet, plenty of towels and washcloths. No need to pack your hair dryer (we've got one).

The cabin is equipped with a washer/dryer, sheets, towels, and a starter supply of paper towels, toilet tissue, shampoo, conditioner, bath soap, laundry detergent and dish detergent.

You’ll feel like you’re in a tree-house or a Disney movie with many types of birds serenading you with sweet singing (bring your Audubon bird book), squirrels and chipmunks playing and the occasional visit from deer, turkey and maybe, if you're lucky you'll catch a glimpse of one of the black bears on the mountain.

Also, in May we get a visit from the “blue ghosts”, truly a magical feeling to be surrounded by hundreds or thousands of tiny blue lightning bugs a couple of hours a night for just a few weeks each year. What makes these different than the "regs" (regular yellow lightning bugs that we all caught as kids) is that their light stays on for a full minute or two. So you can be in the middle of hundreds of these amazing creatures with their tiny blue lights all lit at the same time. It's like having hundreds of tiny fairies all around you. They are only found in this region of the country, so mark your calendars, and don’t miss this opportunity for a rare event right on our mountain.

Brevard area is the ideal place to experience the four seasons without the sweltering summer heat of further south or the frozen endless winter of further north. The fall colors are amazing. Our climate is perfect year round!

You have access to a community, 8-acre lake on our mountain for canoeing/kayaking, swimming, fishing (stocked with several types of fish, check the instructions in the cabin for what kind and how many you can keep). We have 2 fishing poles w/ all the rigging in the garage, and in the cabin, a picnic basket and chairs, towels for swimming! Feel free to bring your own kayak/canoe. Everything you need for a fun day at our private mountain lake available to residents of our community only a 3 min drive from the cabin.

Our propane firepit looks over the beautiful Smokey Mountains! Have a glass of wine and relax - what a peaceful and beautiful way to end the day!

Transylvania County is known as the land of waterfalls. There are over 200 in our county alone, and many are easy hikes. For those who love the outdoors, our county is also known for its mountain biking trails. There are 25 trails with over 600 miles of biking through Pisgah Forest, Bracken Mountain, Dupont Forest and others. With more than 50% of Transylvania County being protected forest and park land, there are countless hiking trails, horseback riding, biking and camping opportunities.

And don’t forget the music scene; it’s fantastic here. Brevard has 2 premier venues for music with the Porter Center at Brevard College and the Brevard Music Center open-air auditorium. Both of these venues feature many local bluegrass, blues, jazz, classical and opera ensembles, some accompanied by a talented orchestra (take a look at Porter Center and Brevard Music Center Events Calendar). Brevard Music Center has hosted Lyle Lovett and His Large Band, Ricky Skaggs and Kentucky Thunder, Amy Grant, Yo-Yo Ma, Bela Fleck and Abigail Washburn, to name a few. Don’t miss the annual Mountain Song Festival early in September that showcases bluegrass and traditional mountain music at its best. Another must is the Banff Film Festival with National Geographic photography short stories (tickets sell out months in advance) at the Porter Center. The list is endless.

• 25 minutes from Brevard – 10 minutes of this 20 to get down our mountain.
• 30 minutes from the Blue Ridge Parkway
• 35 minutes from Gorges State Park
• 40 minutes from Dupont State Recreational Forest
• 45 minutes from Asheville Regional airport in Arden
• 60 minutes from downtown Asheville or Hendersonville
• 90 minutes from Greenville, SC (with international airport)

AND... if a FABULOUS view is one of your top priorities (all pictures of the mountains taken from the porch), this is what our guests say: "Having stayed at dozens of mountain cabin rentals during our marriage, I had become accustomed to mediocre- until Point of View! Most rentals brag of their views and the actual view ends up a huge disappointment. Not here! The view takes your breath away!"

It’s a beautiful part of the country loaded with live music, outdoor activities, festivals, camps, and a variety of craft breweries.

Why they chose this property

History & Story of “Point of View”

Back in 1980, parents (Charlotte and Al) of one of the owners decided, with 3 of their 6 children out of college, they just might be able to afford a little get-away in the mountains. Charlotte and Al drove from their home in Florida and stayed at a friend’s “Little Red Cabin”. They looked at property and decided Line Runner Ridge was perfect. The next year, they contacted a builder, who drew the plan on a napkin and built the shell of the cabin.

The folks were DIY-ers, and every vacation was spent working on their Mountain House. They finished the inside (upstairs) themselves. They made the doors, curtains, kitchen cabinet, painted. It was a labor of love and a break from the Florida heat.

As it happened, Ruth and Glen bought property on the very top of the ridge the same day Charlotte and Al bought theirs. Both couples built houses in 1981, and so began a beautiful friendship.Whenever the folks came up, Glen would come knocking on the door to get Al. They would start at 7 in the morning and quit about 5 in the evening, working, working, working.

In the early 2000s, current owners (Nancy and Betty) came for a visit. They LOVED the mountain house, the views, the area, everything! They immediately started looking for property. Luckily, they were able to acquire property in the area and built their cabin. Now 3 of Charlotte and Al’s children have property on this ridge… and … 2 of Ruth and Glen’s children have property on this ridge. Second generation special friendships continue today.

As for “Point of View”, Charlotte and Al built the garage in 2011 and finished the basement in 2014. Charlotte stayed in the cabin until she moved to Brevard.
Nancy couldn’t bear for the cabin to be sold, so the decision was made to share “Point of View”. We hope you can feel our love for “Point of View”, and enjoy your time on our Beautiful Ridge.

What makes this property unique

Enjoy the quiet solitude of this special cabin. You can sit on the swing and gaze upon mountain peak after mountain peak after mountain peak. On clear nights you can see the lights of the Pisgah Inn way up on the Blue Ridge Parkway. And, on a clear night, don't forget to turn out all the lights and go outside to look up at the millions of stars-AMAZING!!!

You can totally rejuvenate your soul, catch up on your favorite novel, watch the sunsets and go for long walks around the lake. Let all the stress of work and everyday worries evaporate.

Choose to go to town and explore or just soak up the peace of your surroundings.
